im trying to connect to send coins and now I cant even access them

That error indicates that you *are* trying to connect to your local node. I'm afraid I don't have much experience with the Gui wallet. If you are in simple mode I would expect you should be able to still choose from a list of nodes, or enter the address of a node

If so, you could try for example node.supportxmr.com

Other fairly simple alternatives would be to restore your seed in Cake Wallet on iOS/Android or Monerujo on Androd. They rely on remote nodes so you do not need to download the entire blockchain - but scanning for your incoming and outgoing transactions still take a bit of time due to the privacy protections on the Monero blockchain

yeah since I downloaded the newer version I dont see where i can choose simple node or advanced anymore. those options are no longer there when im in my wallet

I think it is quite common to use one of the mobile wallets on a phone, and I would not be surprised if most of the people in here use the command-line wallet on a computer

Can anyone using Tor/Tails/etc validate that these remote Tor nodes are working?

Yeah, same here -- a user complained that wallet sync was broken, but it works properly over clearnet and the Tor services reply properly to curl so its probably PEBCAK.

probably because monerod decided to temporarily ban traffic originating from the Tor daemon, check your logs

selsta: hmmm seems I was mistaken again (sorry!) I assume watching it run on the CL that it was fine, as sync was progressing, but the runtime_error actually persists still in the logs. So it seems that it's both syncing ok, and experiencing runtime errors?

willcl_ark: there seems to be nothing wrong in those logs. Try with --log-level 1, it should show why it's stopping. Without those logs, it looks like a normal/manual exit.

moneromooo: yeah it doesn't actually stop, which I kinda didn't notice. It's just continously logging runtime errors
