ah, sorry. stealth addresses are something that's created under the hood when you make a transaction. you don't create them manually

If the wallet you likes supports it, then I assume it would work. But you can also use any of the recommended wallets like the "official" GUI or CLI wallet, Feather wallet, Cake Wallet (iOS/Android), or Monerujo (Android).

Privacy... that's a bit more complicated. Theoretically, it applies to any monero code, but you can do damn stupid stuff that breaks privacy.

For example, some idiot could make rings that always include inputs 0 through 9, then yours. It'd then be blindingly obvious which input is the real one.

And of course it's cryptocurrency so there's no shortage of assholes trying to get your money or lie to you about whatever, so some wallets will actually steal your money. I believe there's a list of known ones on reddit somewhere.

If I ran an exchange, I wouldn't do that. It would open them up to massive and unnecessary liability. If the wallet maker steals coins, people can sue the exchange for recommending their customers use it
