I definitely have a looser hatred of Coinbase than most, it seems, and have nothing against them listing Monero.

It’s a permissionless system, we have to build Monero into a tool that does everything possible to grant even Coinbase users the most privacy and best digital cash once they withdraw, and push people to better solutions/preach “not your keys not your coins”.

I find coinbase fees to be fairly high

Yup, there is literally nothing compelling about them other than their position as a common on boarding for new people to the space as a whole.

I think my point is being missed. I'm aware of the fact we cannot and don't want to avoid people listing Monero

i just find the hype about the Coinbase possible future adoption quite disappointing

I in no way want people to use them, but I still wanted clarity around why they don’t list it, as I hear very often that regulatory risk is a huge stopping point for many people

And Coinbase is often provided as the source for that worry

As i said in the post, i'm just happy if they don't list it.

I know it's probably not a popular opinion

but personally i fear that with the community getting bigger, we are losing a bit the cypherpunk vibe there was initially

Have there been any thoughts about adapting sth like the dao from decred into monero?

Not seriously, it’s not an easy integration ATM as Decred relies on time-locked PoS tickets to handle voting on proposals.

I know some within Decred are exploring some type of DAO-as-a-service to help other chains integrate into their DAO, but no firm roadmap etc.

Without some sort of time-lock there would be many ways to game the system, so a lot of changes would likely have to happen for Monero to support a system like they use, and the CCS has been great so far for Monero!

But never hurts to stay open and keep learning about options to help governance as Monero grows, IMO 🙂

Yeah, could definitely see something like it being helpful in the future once “rough consensus” gets more difficult in the future.

But it’s much more complex to integrate something like that into a privacy-preserving system like Monero, as I’m not sure if amount commitments could work well with a coin-weighted voting system.

I think especially when things are growing it is getting more difficult to get some decent consensus

I personally would be super interested in a cross-chain way to vote/find consensus.

And I do love how Decred handles votes/funding/hard forks
