For what it's worth, speaking as a marathon distance runner, weight training does have some value. For example, runners with weak glutes will have poor leg alignment/tracking. This can in turn can result in injuries like ITBS, one of the most common running injuries

Similarly, having a weak core and thus hunching over while running decreases oxygen intake efficiency

If memory serves, even the CDC recommends some weekly value of both cardio and strength activity

Also for those without a garage and in a small space or the like, you can arguably make due by subbing in adjustable dumbells for barbell + plates
