lza_menace
where can I see accepted attributes to use for --generate-from-json ?
-
lza_menace
nevermind, found it: 'grep GET_FIELD_FROM_JSON_RETURN_ON_ERROR wallet/wallet2.cpp'

RoughestPeasantd
hello
-
RoughestPeasantd
-
-
RoughestPeasantd
i'm wondering, could this app ban set a precedent for banning cryptocurrencies?
-
asy
RoughestPeasantd: they could maybe remove mobile wallets from app stores, force US exchanges to close, and get ISPs to block foreign exchanges
-
asy
but you'd still be able to use monero :)
-
» moneromooo waits till it starts being illegal to use tor, or use a website that doesn't surrender its private keys to cloudflare.
-
asy
the internet? sounds ancient! we only use the cloudflare vpn to resolve websites using cloudflare dns and then connect to them on cloudflare webworkers
-
moneromooo
Sorry. The internet is what the flare used to be called.
-
RoughestPeasantd
"Any provision of internet hosting services enabling the functioning or optimization of the mobile application in the U.S."
-
RoughestPeasantd
would something like this applied to monero mean that it would be illegal to host a node on server in the us?
-
mfoolb
hi, I've tried compiling new 0.17 on a ubuntu box with a ryzen 3900 16gb with -j16/24/32 and it fails/logged me off.. it only worked with -j1.. any known problem at the moment
-
mfoolb
?
-
moneromooo
Yes. It needs RAM to build. It's going to continue doing so for the foreseeable future though.
-
moneromooo
Count abot 2 GB per job, roughly.
-
moneromooo
wallet2/core_rpc_server/chaingen_main will need more than 2. The rest should fit.
-
mfoolb
so in this configuration no more than 7 threads..
-
mfoolb
didn't know about that..
-
mfoolb
maybe some info in the github compile info page could be useful..
-
moneromooo
Doesn't help if they're not read.
-
moneromooo
Because, you know, it IS there.
-
mfoolb
moneromooo: yeah you'r right.. probably read first time years ago and forgot about that..
-
yanmaani
RoughestPeasantd: No. This order can't be used for that.
-
yanmaani
They're restricting a specific, named corporate entity from doing business in the USA.
-
yanmaani
This is not the same as restricting a specific piece of code, even if that's how it's been presented in the press.
-
zib
hmm. I'm using 0.17 and i'm getting "Error: transaction was not constructed" with transfer
-
zib
ok this is fishy. It's after changing the wallet password.
-
moneromooo
Run with --log-level 2, check the log for more info.
-
zib
ok. I'll see if i can repeat it
-
zib
changing pw and doing rescan_bc resultet in 0 balance and nothing in show_transfers
-
zib
yep repeatable.
-
zib
key image helper precomp: given output pubkey doesn't match the derived one
-
zib
Failed to generate key image
-
zib
its acting like its a mnemonic passphrase
-
moneromooo
Odd one. Is the standard address in your wallet the one you expect ?
-
zib
yes
-
zib
but oh. If i quit the cli and start it again everything is correct
-
zib
Maybe it somehow uses the old pw even if it prompts for it when refresh/rescanning
-
moneromooo
If your wallet set to decrypt the key in memory upon use ?
-
zib
no clue. Im using the default
-
zib
can file an issue with log if its not me doing something dumb but shouldnt be :P
-
selsta
AFAIK if you enter the wrong password during wallet refresh it will use it to decrypt the key and things will get weird
-
zib
i think its just something where some function is using the password entered initially when starting even if you change it
-
zib
it doesnt let me enter the wrong pw when refreshing
-
moneromooo
It's likely a bug. An issue would benice, thanks.
-
zib
done
-
moneromooo
Thanks
-
zib
always fun when github html formats your paste for some reason
-
zib
cant just leave it alone
-
moneromooo
Pissed me off till I consistently remembered you can add ``` and ``` as piss-off-start and piss-off-end.
-
zib
oh my. Thanks
-
asy
and then you get doubly pissed off when you leave a reddit comment because that doesn't work there :{

does a pruned node work as a public remote node?
-
moneromooo
Mostly yes.
-
jwinterm
when seldomly no?
-
moneromooo
If a client requests tx contents for a pruned tx.
-
moneromooo
Which doesn't happen in normal usage.
-
jwinterm
just because it's unlikely ?
-
moneromooo
Since it doesn't happen in normal usage, it's unlikely such a request will be made.
-
jwinterm
okie

ForeverNoob[m]
hi, want to get a hardware wallet and I've read that Ledger is a safe bet. Is that correct?
-
moneromooo
Ledger and Trezor are both deemed good AFAIK.
-
Inge-
Ledger works well
-
ForeverNoob[m]
and both Ledger and Trezor can be used for BTC storage as well?
-
selsta
yes
-
ForeverNoob[m]
sounds cool, I'll check it out
-
ForeverNoob[m]
hmm, bluetooth on the Nano X, my spidey sense senses fishyness.
-
moneromooo
For your own protection, citizen. Do not worry, and love Big brother.
-
ForeverNoob[m]
I... must... obey...
-
ForeverNoob[m]
can't even customize currency on the Ledger page, gg
-
ForeverNoob[m]
shows me GBP instead of EUR and no way to change that lel
-
ForeverNoob[m]
Protip for Ledger: Some people that visit your site use a VPN.
-
selsta
They also store your data forever.
-
selsta
(unless you request deletion)
-
ForeverNoob[m]
wat, encrypted I assume, no?
-
selsta
no idea, they recently got hacked
-
selsta
though it was some older data
-
selsta
Trezor deletes your data after 60 days but AFAIK the Trezor Model T is pricier
-
ForeverNoob[m]
yeah I'm also wondering if I really need this FIDO2 thing, some exchanges use it for auth, no?
-
jwinterm
no one requires it
-
selsta
monero only supports Trezor Model T
-
jwinterm
you can just use google auth or whatever
-
ForeverNoob[m]
<selsta "monero only supports Trezor Mode"> ah
-
ForeverNoob[m]
but I don't understand why Ledger would want to store your data. Also what kind of data does it store? Like... the privkey is stored on the device itself right?
-
selsta
your address
-
selsta
and real life data
-
selsta
not sure if you care
-
ForeverNoob[m]
oh hmm
-
selsta
yea they don’t store your priv key
-
ForeverNoob[m]
does monero-cli also support Ledger and/or Trezor Model T ?
-
jwinterm
yea
-
ForeverNoob[m]
awesome
