skrech: No default location for CLI config file. I write small shell scripts and batchfiles for such cases to avoid too much typing

<dd1982> Ryzen 3700X. The new Ryzens are beasts in general - but the huge L3 caches make them especially good with RandomX as it needs ~2MB L3 per thread and the new Ryzens have at least 4MB/core...

last hard fork there was a graph of hashrate dropping from the asics. Any ideas how the hash rate will/has changed with this fork?

It more than doubled so far. Guess the ASICs were ready this time.

Well, that was "only" very probable, but not guaranteed, right? There might have been ASIC we did not know of; too many miners and pools not ready for the fork; etc.

there were no asics on v11, the HR did not change over those 8 months, most pools ready, most miners never are

and the mymonero client is showing a different hex addres than I was expecting, and is saying I need to do a transfer that costs 0.1 xmr

I was under the impressoin that I was just transferring control of a set of addresses from one wallet to another, but it seems like this process is actually about creating a new set of addresses, and transferring xmr from the old one to the new one?

you can have same passphrase but different keys

so the key is the fundamental unit of controling a collection of xmr, and you generate (a large number of) addresses from the key?

the last time I looked at this, i remember having to either download a several-dozen-gb blockchain, or point the official client at some external source of the blockchain, which had security implications I didn't fully understand

and I think I've since deleted the local copy of the blockchain out of some dot directory, since it was taking up a lot of spcae on my ssd

I suppose if I wanted to transfer xmr out of my existing wallet I'd need to redownload that blockchain, or point my client at some external server

you can set up a new wallet on mymonero and transfer your existing funds to that wallet and don't have to pay the 0.1 xmr fee
