current GUI currently has what I call the "button mashing" problem. Perhaps my system just isn't fast enough. but when I enter the remote node details and hit connect. Nothing happens, for like 5-7 seconds. THen I see the refresh start.

not a good direction

i'm not clear on whether monero could continue to use the free version. if yes, GUI builds are (mostly?) static anyway (including QT?), so does that mean we're okay?

but in general I don’t like the direction they are taking

on the other hand, Qt 6 sounded good feature wise :/
