Tari's definitely funded a lot of the monero research lab workshops, security work, they're working on law firms to prepare guidance for exchanges and wallet companies on regulatory conditions... I think they're doing a lot for Monero's image too. globee has sponsored servers

I created a public irc logger for Monero related channels.

Motivation being the frustration of seeing good discussion getting swallowed by the void.

I was alerted by Freenode staff that logged channels should have a notice in the topic.

Is there any interest for this project?

I kind of dislike public logging, everything what is said in here is basically posted indefinitely on the interwebz

Though I guess that may already happen

I figured there is already no assumption of privacy since these are public channels

Though, I have already removed #monero-markets, #monero-pools and #monero-pt as those channels are not strictly used for discussion and more likely to contain private information

Also dislike logging but we should not pretend a public IRC channel is free from logging otherwise

the benefits outweigh the drawbacks i'd say

There is no privacy on IRC

at least not on a public freenode channel

I also use Jitsi meet, it has encrypted p2p chat and video conferencing

Convos was built only for IRC and could run on old hardware. I am hosting an instance of it, so if anyone wants an account, just pm me!

I will keep the site and post up for now and await some more community feedback. So far the reaction on Reddit appears to be positive.

I'll ask freenode if the notice is strictly necessary if the logs are not kept indefinitely.

You can already obtain the entire irc history of this channel by joining the mattermost instance.

So in effect this channel is already publicly logged.
