Is there any function to extract the private view key from the prepare_multisig data?
-
duso
Check out the logo for this company
ampstek.com/index.html. Even the colours are a really close match

Can the private view key of a wallet be extracted from the prepare_multisig data?
-
Adreik
When the wallet says "This includes the PRIVATE view key, so needs to be disclosed only to that multisig wallet's participants" when entering prepare_multisig, is this just a private view key that is useful for the multisig to be created or is the private view key of the originating wallet extractable from that data?
-
moneromooo
It is the secret view key for the multisig wallet.

moneromooo
cryptonote::get_multisig_blinded_secret_key(get_account().get_keys().m_view_secret_key);

doktoroesperanto
is this the most active xmr irc channel?
-
moneromooo
Depends if you like spam. #monero-markets has that.
-
charuto
and dont forget -pools
-
charuto
you will find different types of degeneracy in each of those channels

set irc.ctcp.clientinfo ""

what really is xmr
-
dixie__flatline[
endogenic: it's a digital cash.
-
endogenic
like dash?
-
dixie__flatline[
think like bitcoin, but with transaction privacy supreme.
-
endogenic
just coinjoin
-
dixie__flatline[
endogenic: haven't used dash. I heard it has poor privacy features.
-
endogenic
i heard it stands for digital trash
-
endogenic
just trollin
-
dixie__flatline[
endogenic: and only certain wallets are able to do coinjoin
-

dixie__flatline[
this video provides a good overview of differences between bitcoin, dash, zcash, and monero
-
dixie__flatline[
spoiler alert: monero is killing it.

MikeyG
xmr is a sleeper hit all day. best community / dedicated / no frills / adopts new research tech + algos at sensible intervals (not too early, not too late)
-
endogenic
but what about the argument that people don't necessarily need optimal privacy
-
MikeyG
whoever's running the ship from a technical standpoint is clued af. xmr is reddit to btc's digg.
-
dixie__flatline[
it's a poor argument.
-
endogenic
MikeyG: do you know about MRL?
-
dixie__flatline[
people are realizing that they need untraceability when it comes to cryptocurrency transactions.
-
endogenic
yes they do but there's effective untraceability … or just "privacy liquidity" … some people think that new coins will be launched
-
MikeyG
i dont know anything about MRL. will chat more later tho. <3
-
endogenic
they are the ones
-
dixie__flatline[
well, until those new coins are launched, we have monero, right here and right now.
-
endogenic
what network effects does monero have to ensure its future usage?
-
dixie__flatline[
DNM's
-
endogenic
does its past anonymity set hold value if technology or conditions develop ?
-
MikeyG
the thing XMR will have that others wont is longevity. when you run a tight ship, this right for this long, you get trust. trust > *. it's why vitalik can turn eth's diverse community of suits and geeks on a dime.
-
endogenic
Monero is not run MikeyG
-
endogenic
and certainly not run like a tight ship
-
endogenic
#monero-research-lab
-
endogenic
also
-
endogenic
imagine if Vitalik was like, no, we're obviously not going to fork for the DAO thing
-
endogenic
i'd probably be an ETH boy
-
endogenic
but then PoS would probably not be so appealing to them
-
endogenic
so frankly ETH seems to have an honesty problem fmpov
-
endogenic
Monero will just need to stay honest with itself
-
endogenic
but some things are tough to see if they are outside our range of vision
-
endogenic
naturally. :)

doktoro
@dixie__flatline[ thanks for the vid
-
dixie__flatline[
doktoro: you are welcome mate.

doktoro
I wanna play that crypto tracing game lol
-
dixie__flatline[
lol
-
dixie__flatline[
it's so cute the way they try to educate the boomer law enforcement agents
-
dixie__flatline[
also, the way they talk about monero and cryptocurrencies... it's like watching a 5 year old make his sentences about politics or science. It leaves you with a sense of cutesy pity.
-
dixie__flatline[
"awww how cute..."
