hi, i'm the dude with the internet de-connections, I didn't notice beofre, now internet works normal, was really fucking with me, monerod was open even if gui was closed
-
gingeropolous
jtgrassie, are the 800 MH/s spikes real?
-
gingeropolous
so, transpeer or intra network peer finding system (INPFS)... hrm, maybe i can have fun with the acronym). CNXN - Cross Network Xfer of Nodes
-
gingeropolous
connector CNCTR - Cross Network Connector for Trailblazing Rectifiers
-
gingeropolous
nope nop enope
-
gingeropolous
cause i like being able to refer to a transpeer as an entity in my notes and thoughtcode
-
gingeropolous
or i could go the nonsense route. Purpleberry
-
gingeropolous
oh i got it. WWITG - Wacky Waving Inflatable Tube Guy
-
gingeropolous
because when your trying to find something, a tube guy always helps yah out
-
gingeropolous
although you can't really see them on the internet, thats problem.... you have to know where to look, open the door. silly non broadcast design
-
gingeropolous
so sorry tube guy, your metaphorical value is nill
-
gingeropolous
in this case

sadly there will be no new emojis released this year

xmrmatterbridge
<xmrhaelan> Hey everyone
-
xmrmatterbridge
<xmrhaelan> How can I find the dev/s who have the most experience with Monero’s RPC-Pay feature?
-
xmrmatterbridge
<xmrhaelan> I am trying to identify any who might be able to provide some technical guidance for Locha Mesh when they begin to focus on incentivizing their nodes
-
comrandroxaos[m]
what is locha mesh?
-
jtgrassie
gingeropolous: yeah that's my 800 MH (in my dreams, anyway)
-
rdymac
comrandroxaos[m], checkout the readme about Locha Mesh
github.com/btcven/locha/blob/master/README.md
-
moneromooo
xmrhaelan: I know a fair bit about it
-
asymptotically
if only the person that created it was here :P
-

lol
-

rdymac: you're up
-
rdymac
Hey
-
rdymac
We currently have a Monero-GUI connected to a remote monerod over the Locha Mesh, do you know what other settings we need to put in the config file to enable RPC-Pay, moneromooo ?
-
rdymac
I saw some settings to restrict RPC-Pay to a specific address, but I’m not sure what else we need to enable/disable
-
moneromooo
You'd have to add it to the GUI. AFAIK it's not plugged there.
-
moneromooo
It's only in monero-wallet-cli.
-
moneromooo
selsta: xiphon: is anyone planning on adding this to the GUI ?
-
rdymac
Ok, we could try using the CLI
-
rdymac
There is an unanswered question in this reddit:
reddit.app.link/E78OfDpey7 “Does my node need to be [solo] mining for me to get credit for hashes of people mining for rpc on my node?”
-
moneromooo
It does not.
-
moneromooo
If a client finds a block, the daemon will relay it whether it was mining or not.
-
rdymac
Interesting
-
xiphon
moneromooo: yep, will eventually add RPC pay to the GUI
-
xiphon
wanted to test it on the cli users first
-
rdymac
Question: “and use those credits from a phone, by reusing the client ID”
-
rdymac
The credits mentioned there are some kind of user-earned-credits in the service provider, right?
-
moneromooo
Yes.
-
rdymac
Those “credits” are not part of the protocol... well, maybe they are part of the Primo protocol (
repo.getmonero.org/selene/primo)
-
moneromooo
Correct.
-
moneromooo
It's "the daemon operator remembers the user mined enough for that much amount of service".
-
rdymac
Amazing. I woke up thinking about how we could invent Primo and it was already created
-
moneromooo
It's trusted. The daemon operator could say "lol, go away".
-
moneromooo
Note that technically, primo could be merged with a mining server tevador made, which... I forget the exact details but IIRC it would make it not require a browser plugin anymore).
-
moneromooo
But yes, primo could be made to work with more than web browsers. Like bittorrent peers, or... locha mesh.
-
moneromooo
(I guess, I don't know how that one workds, but anything that provides a service and can connect to a monero daemon)
-
rdymac
Great! We’ll start with the RPC-Pay demo. We’ll look for more specifics about the settings needed and come back if we have doubts

Last december a 16 year old guy launched a lora cube into space. It is not a geo stationary satelite. Its possition is very low to earth and is called fossa sat1. You can reach it twice a day with a very cheap 400MHz transciever 20$. Perfect for sending monero from the middle of nowhere. It is something similar to locha. Just saying.
-
Spaceguide
sounds... interesting
-
rdymac
What happens if you reach it with a LoRa antenna from the ground, d4ndo[m] ? Does it reply back, store the info you’ve transmitted or something?
-
Spaceguide
could maybe also link different zones together
-
hyc
yeah, if you had 12-24 ground stations spread around the world
-
d4ndo[m]
I couldn't tell you for sure. Usually it is used to send some sensor data temp(whatever) to some ground station.
-
d4ndo[m]
But i guess a ground station is nothing else but this 20$ device + a qmmt server.
-
hyc
people have talked about using these cubesats for store-and-forward message delivery
-
hyc
when it gets over the recipient's location, it can beam a message down
-
hyc
have to wonder, in this day, what kinds of messages you would want to send, that could take up to 11 hours to deliver

It is probably ok if you have some seonsors out in the dessert or in the middle of the ocean.
-
Spaceguide
getting tech back up should be priority
-
d4ndo[m]
With all that closed source hardware around - it will be hell.
-
d4ndo[m]
All i need is a raspberry pi + linux + an directional antenna to connect to a mesh network.

The reign of open firmware will begin though

and after it's all over, just build all sorts of sff raspi junk

Does anybody have some good resources that you can recommend for the calculation of pps reserve?

xmrpow, prolly checkout #monero-pools ?
