Avernus666
Hey, I am a bit of a noob and have just converted BTC to XMR on elude. The input has had 9 confirmations and the output information has appeared yet nothing has appeared in my wallet.
-
Avernus666
Is there an amount of time this takes? I'm just slightly worried lol
-
selsta
Avernus666: what wallet are you using?
-
Avernus666
Elude's to recieve the XMR
-
selsta
You have to ask them.
-
selsta
I have never heard of Elude but it seems like they have the private key so it isn’t a real wallet.
-
kevcrumb
maybe they just wait for the 10th confirm
-
kevcrumb
(unlocked)
-
Avernus666
I've sent them in a ticket but I'm aware I'm likely just being impatient with it
-
Avernus666
It seemed to be a reliable enough resource
-
kevcrumb
in monero you cannot spend an output before 10 confirms, Avernus666
-
kevcrumb
maybe the devs decided to show you the balance only once it's actually spendable
-
kevcrumb
just guessing though
-
Avernus666
Thank you man. It's pretty nervewrecking first going about this for the first time haha
-
selsta
kevcrumb: I don’t think this is a real wallet.
-
selsta
So no Monero transaction involved here.
-
kevcrumb
yeah IT can be stressful
-
kevcrumb
oh. didn't bother to look it up
-
Avernus666
It's had ten confirms yet hasn't appeared. I assumed Elude was reliable...
-
kevcrumb
... the "elude" part seems to be
-
kevcrumb
worked for your XMR
-
vampyren
morning guys
-
vampyren
i have some big issue with the wallet sync, i changed to a new pc and now i cant start the wallet with the daemon, had to start the monerod.exe manually from dos
-
vampyren
i start seeing this now:
-
vampyren
2020-05-11 07:10:31.902 I Synced 2031481/2095798 (96%, 64317 left)
-
vampyren
2020-05-11 07:10:34.734 W [38.68.37.251:35274 INC] peer claims higher version that we think (13 for 2095427 instead of 12) - we may be forked from the network and a software upgrade may be needed
-
vampyren
2020-05-11 07:10:34.943 I Synced 2031501/2095798 (96%, 64297 left)
-
vampyren
i tried to ask in telegram but no answer so hope someone can answer here :)
-
vampyren
If i want to verify i'm on the right chain, is this the correct way of doin it?
-
vampyren
I did a ==> print_block 1505540
-
vampyren
Next i check the same block on explorer moneroblocks.info/search/1505540
-
vampyren
And compare the hash .....
-
vampyren
Am i doing it right ?
-
selsta
vampyren: What is the exact problem?
-
selsta
The daemon logs look good.
-
selsta
The GUI can’t start monerod?
-
vampyren
well once i started the wallet on my second pc it would not start the daemon
-
vampyren
i changed port to default (was using another port) but it refused to start
-
vampyren
Also it started to sync like the output you saw above....plus now i saw that message
-
vampyren
been behaving very strange to be honest
-
vampyren
i'm actually starting to import from raw file now just to be sure
-
vampyren
just cant figure out why the daemon wont start normally with the wallet
-
vampyren
and another funky problem was that i wanted to change the location of wallet. When i did that then the sync started the painfull slow syncing from start again (takes many hours)....dont get why it just dont start right away, wallet location change should not affect anything....so a few issues
-
vampyren
to summarize: 1) why wont daemon start with wallet? 2) how to verify i'm on right chain 3)why does the wallet start syncing again for no reason
-
selsta
vampyren: don’t import the raw blockchai
-
selsta
blockchain, there is nothing weird in your logs
-
selsta
`peer claims higher version that we think (13 for 2095427 instead of 12) - we may be forked from the network and a software upgrade may be needed` is a warning you can ignore
-
selsta
are you using Windows?
-
selsta
"why does the wallet start syncing again for no reason" <-- what does syncing again mean?
-
selsta
Changing the wallet location does not cause resyncing. Are you sure that you didn’t change the blockchain location?
-
vampyren
ok so the warrning i can ignore , thanks :)
-
vampyren
yes on windows GUI
-
vampyren
for sure i did not change blockchain location, i see in regedit the location to verify too
-
vampyren
i basically closed the wallet
-
vampyren
used restore from hw wallet and it started the paiful sync in progress
-
vampyren
maybe 7-8h later i was at 96%
-
vampyren
sadly i started the raw import just to be sure already
-
vampyren
but one big issue is wallet dont start teh daemon, it times out after 2min
-
vampyren
worked fine the first time i tried it with another port but now it just wont
-
vampyren
will see once import is finished how it goes
-
vampyren
almost 1/4 done
-
vampyren
block 552950 / 1968799
-
rbrunner7
Unfortunately that's not 1/4th of the necessary time. Later blocks are much bigger ...
-
vampyren
oh right its not a full raw :)
-
vampyren
last block is 2095805
-
vampyren
how about the verifation of chain, was i on the right track?
-
selsta
are you using the Windows installer?
-
rbrunner7
No, I didn't even noticed you gave a number smaller than 2 millions. I mean to say the first 4th of all blocks is nowhere near 1/4th of total sync effort because the remaining 3 4th of blocks are much bigger
-
selsta
vampyren: Can you make sure that no anti virus is blocking the daemon from getting started?
-
selsta
There have been a few users who reported your issue but we haven’t been able to reproduce it.
-
vampyren
i used the zip file (like that more)
-
vampyren
i added teh whole monero folder in exclude for AV (Eset32)
-
vampyren
even disable it several times to be sure
-
selsta
Okay, just so that we can try to find the problem, can you later try the installer?
-
vampyren
can do but what will it do extra? i'm pretty familiar with windows and how it works :) old developer so tell me if you want me to check something please
-
vampyren
i can see blockchainDataDir = D:\Blockchain\bitmonero
-
selsta
Where do you see that?
-
vampyren
in registry
-
vampyren
Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\monero-project\monero-core
-
selsta
Yes but if you start the daemon manually then it will not use this location.
-
selsta
I guess it will use the default location, somewhere on C:\
-
selsta
-
selsta
can you look through this issue post?
-
vampyren
i used --data-dir when i started monerod
-
vampyren
sure one sec, checking
-
vampyren
i dont set the bootstrap setting as in this issue
-
vampyren
default folder for blockchain on win-->C:\ProgramData\bitmonero\ on Windows
-
vampyren
i did check and moenrod did not add anything there so thats how i knew it was using the right folder
-
vampyren
-
vampyren
I think i did this just before i started the import -->Drop --data-dir argument from Daemon startup flags. Use Blockchain location field ins
-
vampyren
so lets see once its synced and see how it works :)
-
selsta
I still think it has something to do with AV blocking or some Windows rights issue
-
selsta
else there should be an error message
-
selsta
that’s why I wanted you to try the installer version as it usually gets the rights stuff right
-
vampyren
I disable my AV, even added a rule in windows FW (which is not active while i use AV to allow the 18080), tried even to check if ports are open in router using
canyouseeme.org
-
vampyren
Trying to understand what the issue is
-
vampyren
when i start the monerod the port is open and working fine
-
vampyren
but now when i started wallet gui
-
vampyren
but will give status once i'm synced
-
vampyren
sort of half way now
-
selsta
should not be a port issue
-
selsta
or router
-
vampyren
reason i like zip file is that i like to learn what things are placed and how programs work :)
-
vampyren
nah dont think so either
-
vampyren
port is open and working with moenrod so that we can thick off :)
-
selsta
the GUI simply starts the monerod process
-
vampyren
yeah it should but i dont see it in the process list
-
vampyren
that is also strange
-
selsta
nothing fancy and it works for almost all users so it’s weird that it does not for some users
-
vampyren
i can actually in my Antivirus(with firewall builtin) see monerod when i start it from command prompt , it works fine
-
vampyren
but when i start the wallet its not showing
-
vampyren
in Antivirus(with firewall builtin)
-
selsta
do you have windows defender running too?
-
mmxxx[m]
lol windows...
-
Quotes
fuck windows, use linux!
-
mmxxx[m]
^
-
vampyren
hehe
-
vampyren
just 99% of users use win :) although i like OSX allot
-
vampyren
damn didnt reallize it would take so long to expand, last time i did it during night :) at block 1914870 / 1968799
-
vampyren
btw is there another channel that people talk more about Monero? its pretty quiet here , same with Telegram really
-
vampyren
considering the fanbase ...
-
takel
yes this is very serious issue
-
takel
are u mining alone
-
vampyren
lol is that a bot?
-
takel
i have intel E7- 4870 and opteron 6272
-
takel
what is better for solo mining
-
shillo
#monero-pools
-
shillo
4mining
-
selsta
vampyren: #monero is usually only user support
-
vampyren
selsta sure but every project have their channel for social chat and stuff :)
-
vampyren
i love the discussion that is not only price price but a bit also into tech, future roadmap etc
-
takel
i dont like pools
-
vampyren
to keep close to project and members
-
selsta
vampyren: #monero-markets #monero-community, #monero-pools, #monero-dev
-
selsta
#monero-research-lab
-
vampyren
ahhh thanks
-
takel
how to better exploit this cpus
-
takel
CPU E7- 4870 opteron 6272
-
vampyren
baby crying :( be back :)
-
takel
selsta what to do about boost files that can not be found
-
takel
i did some sed changes but still same errors
-
selsta
sadly don’t know
-
takel
after sed changes some other boost directives couldn't be found
-
dEBRUYNE
vampyren: Reddit also has quite the discussion, but it is less interactive
-
selsta
afaik there are 2 telegram groups but don’t know how active they are
-
goldmine_compact
the MoneroGER group is extremely active, only downside: it's in German
-
goldmine_compact
* the MoneroGER group (on Telegram) is extremely active, only downside: it's in German
-
miziel
monero-pools is like the heart... no, like some other vital organ of community - a kidney, or a liver maybe :)))
-
shillo
miziel: the lower intestine
-
fort3hlulz
-
shillo
pump it sir
-
vampyren
dEBRUYNE i check reddit actually but not that many articles, still nice for discussion, wish devs put out more though
-
vampyren
yeah german wont do :) and i dont mine so
-
vampyren
but nice with these additional
-
vampyren
btw now the wallet started ok , meaning started the monerod
-
vampyren
its at "waiting for darmon to sync", been at it for a while, not sure why that takes so long
-
vdo
I guess DNM trade increasing because of lockdowns
-
vdo
could be part of xmr traffic?
-
selsta
vampyren: did you set the correct blockchain folder in settings -> node?

-
vampyren
yes :)
-
vampyren
always been correct there to be honest, never changed it
-
selsta
looks good?
-
selsta
the daemon still has to sync a bit
-
vampyren
yes so far so good
-
selsta
maybe the raw blockchain was not up to date
-
vampyren
exactly
-
vampyren
but the GUI is a bit confusing i must say
-
selsta
what exactly? :P
-
vampyren
the second bar for blockchain remaining i get
-
selsta
daemon and wallet are separate
-
vampyren
but why is the first bad empty "waiting for darmon to sync"
-
selsta
the daemon has to get synced and then the wallet has to scan for outputs
-
selsta
due to moneros privacy
-
selsta
soo once the daemon is synced it will scan the wallet
-
vampyren
i have +11 connection so assuming it should not be empty right?
-
selsta
Wait for the daemon to sync first.
-
vampyren
wil do thanks mate
-
vampyren
dinner time, will let it do its thingy
-
geonic
Anyone know if you have to download the whole blockchain first before you prune it?
-
selsta
geonic: no
-
geonic
tx. any idea what the current pruned size is?
-
selsta
27GB
-
geonic
thank you
-
geonic
can you mine with a pruned chain?
-
gingeropolous
geonic, yes
-
geonic
thanks
-
XMR-RandomX-Frea
Hullo everybody
-
miziel
hullo
-
XMR-RandomX-Frea
Just noticed the Monero BTC donation address was drained of its funds in February. Are people aware this happened? Why did it happen?
-
miziel
there is a btc donation address? :|
-
miziel
aaah, there is...
-
XMR-RandomX-Frea
Sorry my client disconnected. Did somebody answer my question?
-
miziel
no, not yet
-
XMR-RandomX-Frea
Ok thanks :)
-
camthegeek
fluffypony needed a new watch
-
PatBoy
hahaha
-
RandomXylophone
Maybe somebody moved all the BTC into XMR?
-
XMR-RandomX-Frea
Client disconnected. Did somebody answer my question?
-
XMR-RandomX-Frea
Ugh this web client is frustrating as it keeps disconnecting
-
commandocrypto[m
<XMR-RandomX-Frea "Client disconnected. Did somebod"> use riot-desktop or gomuks or nheko. but either way, you won't miss messages. even if ur using a web client like riot-web
-
XMR-RandomX-Frea
Is that available for iOS?
-
camthegeek
riot is

irccloud good too ^

XMR-RandomX-Frea
Interesting
-
XMR-RandomX-Frea
jwinterm Do you know why the BTC donation address was drained in Feb? I don’t remember an announcement about this
-
jwinterm
what btc donation address?
-
XMR-RandomX-Frea
Moneros
-
jwinterm
I have no clue
-
jwinterm
I don't send or withdraw from there
-
XMR-RandomX-Frea
It was the entire wallets balance. Like 13 BTC
-
XMR-RandomX-Frea
Who would know? Maybe fluffypony?
-
ndorf
i didn't even know there was a BTC donation address
-
dEBRUYNE
Drained seems like a bit of an excessive term
-
dEBRUYNE
It was probably used to cover expenses
-
XMR-RandomX-Frea
$130,000 in a single month?
-
XMR-RandomX-Frea
What expenses?
-
fort3hlulz
-
fort3hlulz
Didn't even know that was a thing
-
jwinterm
I mean, if they just converted it to dollars, wasn't exactly bad timing

Don’t use bloodstream. Use blockchair it’s more private

just trace it. where'd it go?

The beauty of BTC
-

Took me all of 5m to find out where the money went, when, and how much
-
asymptotically
blockstream explorer is pretty based
-
camthegeek
I did it earlier. $130k is about the cost of a watch for fp right?
-
fort3hlulz
Yeah just tried Blockchair and its not bad
-
fort3hlulz
had never heard of it
