What happend to that LoRa (LowEnergy/wide range) project?
locha.io
-
d4ndo[m]
I really like the idea of sending Monero or Bitcoin via those LoRa devices. I also found this
hackster.io/scottpowell69/lora-mesh-chat-5267d9
-
d4ndo[m]
A uniform bluetooth to lora interface for Monerojo or the Cake wallet would not be bad.
-
d4ndo[m]
Range is 2 km. You get two of those devices for 20$. Combined with a powerbank a device could run for weeks. A single person could setup several pirate relays in a city on high altitude locations. Just needs some camuflage.

xmrmatterbridge
<rbrunner7> Hmmm, no payouts yet, and no completed milestones yet on their Twitter:
ccs.getmonero.org/proposals/randybrito-locha-mesh.html twitter.com/Locha_io Maybe taking long than anticipated?
-
d4ndo[m]
A working prototype would not be so bad. All hardware and software must be released under an open source license. This corporate website is not sufficient. The locha team has to prove itself first.

has anyone else noticed that, for the past year or so, xmr/btc is a more sideways market than oil/btc, usd/btc(to some short-term degree), metals/btc, major etfs(s&p,dji,ndx)/btc, aapl/btc, amazon/btc, almost every other alt, etc.?

Zero-ghost[m]
anyone with a ledger nano and on arch/manjaro verify the gui wallet is working with the ledger currently?
-
Zero-ghost[m]
cant get it to restore my account i have on it since before system crash
-
Zero-ghost[m]
ledger live works, so believe i have all the udev crap set up correctly
-
selsta
Zero-ghost[m]: can you explain the exact problem?
-
selsta
what is the error message that shows up?
-
Zero-ghost[m]
selsta: "unable to open device"
-
Zero-ghost[m]
so it sees that there is a device and it cant access it for some reason
-
Zero-ghost[m]
while the ledger live app can
-
selsta
yes, is unable to open device the full error message?
-
Zero-ghost[m]
i also uninstalled and reinstalled the monero app on ledger live
-
selsta
can you try the getmonero.org gui version?
-
selsta
it is possible that the arch repo compiled it without ledger support
-
Zero-ghost[m]
"failed to generate new wallet: unable to open device 1:11415"
-
Zero-ghost[m]
same error weather i try to actually create a new wallet on the ledger or try to recover the original wallet i made on there
-
selsta
hmm that usually means something else is accessing the ledger
-
selsta
is ledger live opened?
-
Zero-ghost[m]
i did download it from getmonero.org
-
Zero-ghost[m]
not using a repo version
-
Zero-ghost[m]
no i close ledger live before trying to access it with the monero gui
-
Zero-ghost[m]
also tried unplugging and plugging in fresh before running monero
-
selsta
monero app is opened?
-
selsta
ledger unlocked?
-
selsta
-
Zero-ghost[m]
yup all the udev rules
-
Zero-ghost[m]
if i leave ledger at the main screen the monero gui says "no device" instead of 'unable to open'
-
selsta
is the ledger monero app v1.5.1 installed?
-
Zero-ghost[m]
yup
-
selsta
okay, the only idea I have is
-
selsta
restarting your system, plug Ledger in and try again
-
Zero-ghost[m]
ledger live up to date, and ledger firmware up to date
-
selsta
unable to open device usually means that the ledger is already in use by some other software
-
Zero-ghost[m]
yea im gonna try wiping the monero hidden config folder and then try that
-
selsta
monero hidden config folder?
-
selsta
don’t think that is required
-
Zero-ghost[m]
yea .bitmonero in the home folder
-
Zero-ghost[m]
just trying to start as clean as possible
-
Zero-ghost[m]
i was using simple anyway so dont have the full blockchain to redownload
-
selsta
ok

-
gingeropolous

-
gingeropolous

-
d4ndo[m]

possible dumb question indicating my level of how OS works: so im running a script. the OS presumably moved a copy of that running script to memory. so if I go in and edit the script, the original will still run.... i could just make a new script file.
-
manifest
gingeropolous: with a normal file being run as a say, bash script and you modify the script while it's running it should not affect the already running process
-
manifest
might wanna check that with someone else tho
