when i do mginfo("trace"); on runtime code error i have only "trace" output
-
newyearday
how to have real output about what is happening
-
moneromooo
Assuming you mean MGINFO, you get the file and line in the log.
-
newyearday
on monero log i saw the first runtime error so i put a trace there but only "Trace" output nothing else
-
newyearday
yes MGINFO
-
moneromooo
In the log ? It should omit coder type info on stdout, but not in the log (unless you monkeyed with the log format, but I doubt you did).
-
newyearday
u can c here
paste.debian.net/1138999 that line that bring the error is ss << tx_blob;
-
moneromooo
The log file. Which is ~/.bitmonero/bitmonero.log or wherever monero-wallet-cli is.
-
newyearday
-
newyearday
this is the output
-
newyearday
-
newyearday
what to insert for having more info about what is happening
-
newyearday
i tried to debug but really i dont know how to find runtime error reason
-
newyearday
moneromooo are u here
-
newyearday
any one here?
-
newyearday
moneromooo what to do?
-

joiajsodjad
Hi. I have a problem with ledger/monero-cli. The first and last ~10 symbols of some addresses I want to sent to don't match the address displayed on my ledger.
-
joiajsodjad
When I confirm the transfer it sends to the address displayed in monero-cli, so I don't know if it's a problem with monero-cli or the ledger app
-
joiajsodjad
If anyone else wants to try, it consistently happens with the addresses that morphtoken use
-
selsta
joiajsodjad: Are you sending to an integrated address?
-
selsta
If the address is 106 characters long it is an integrated address.
-
joiajsodjad
selsta: Yes. An address like this: 4CaLQAveWB1YzzhX4Z8EVDKzeCjkXMejH6CrccFuu1BKQxJ1pbDxr8W6YqrKh3jYWccJjnFkYRPgiWWk5WR8erLG8ZTshkcX2Wj5b68AT4
-
joiajsodjad
It worked fine with the subaddresses I generated with monero-cli 15.0.5
-
selsta
Integrated addresses are an encoding scheme for base address + payment id
-
selsta
the Ledger simply displays the base address, that's why the difference
-
joiajsodjad
Oh, okay. How can I verify that the address is right?
-
selsta
you can type into cli: `integrated_address 4JozWNgQB7G9oP8c44W78UQkAP1Y16UmkPEDzZN21HwmVK1neZV6aX7C3yvhJ4rbUgaV6UGMfZoYpBwW4M71nyWp9LWMbH36jfCUXihCiy`
-
selsta
and then it will show you the base address (which should be equal to the ledger one) and the payment id
-
joiajsodjad
Thank you
-
selsta
are you using the latest ledger monero app?
-
selsta
I thought they already fixed this...
-
joiajsodjad
Yes
-
selsta
but maybe not
-
selsta
anyway it is just a visual thing

Hello, I have so many questions...Recently started mining, have a geforce GT610 lying around the house. Currently mining with an i7 which makes about 2.5KH/sec running puppy linux off a USB drive. I'm also a capitalist so that is of course not enough. When mining on the i7 using windows the same machine makes less than half the hashes.
-
hugozar
Also, the windows shows the screen image via the GT610 but xmrig can't find it.
-
hugozar
How does one get the GT610 to help making hashes? Is it too old?
-
asymptotically
i don't think any mining applications will support your GT610. even if you find one that does, it probably won't be worth your time
-
asymptotically
it's not really worth mining on GPU
-
newyearday
what is vout length on genesis?
-
jtgrassie
jwinterm: the hardcoded block time is the Monero block time of 2 minutes. The config retarget time is how often you would like to send work to miners.
-
newyearday
hello
-
yanmaani
hey
-
yanmaani
Does Monero have some slightly longer-form forum than IRC?
-
newyearday
what do u mean with longer
-
derpy_bridge
<[discord] Kayla#5718>: like what?
-
jwinterm
ya we figured it out jtgrassie, thanks
-
jwinterm
someone trying to repurpose it to wownero
-
yanmaani
Like a normal forum or such
-
yanmaani
So, I have an idea I'd like to discuss - making block sizes floating
-
yanmaani
kind of like VBR in music encoding
-
derpy_bridge
<[discord] Kayla#5718>: reddit, discord, keybase, irc
-
jwinterm
yanmaani, most very long form discussions are done as github issues
-
jwinterm
historically, with sidebars on reddit, irc, and maybe long ago bitcointalk
-
yanmaani
instead of saying, "blocks are 2MB", you say "the target block size is 2MB". Every time a block is below this, you get some scrip, and you can use it to temporarily push the size above the limit.
-
jwinterm
monero has a dynamic block size already tho
-
jwinterm
if you weren't aware
-
yanmaani
Kayla#5718 jwinterm: Thanks.
-
yanmaani
That's only dynamic with respect to the long-term, no?
-
jwinterm
yes and no
-
yanmaani
It fluctuates, sort of like the difficulty. This idea is orthogonal; it would allow for block sizes to be bigger during peak hours and smaller during off-peak hours
-
jwinterm
you can make a block above the limit anytime, with a block reward penalty
-
jwinterm
but if blocks are close to the limit for a while, then the limit will drift up
-
yanmaani
as well as, for example, having huge blocks during christmas or whatever.
-
yanmaani
But small blocks have no incentive to get made, right?
-
yanmaani
Except for the fact that the fees have to dwarf the block reward.
-
jwinterm
anytime there's enough money in fees in the mempool, it can become more economical to take the block penalty reward to include more tx fees
-
jwinterm
well, if there's tx fees making it economical to take some block reward penalty, that will also have the effect of pushing the limit up faster
-
jwinterm
afair
-
yanmaani
Yeah, but the fees have to be above a certain limit. There's no incentive to make small blocks, right?
-
jwinterm
#monero-research-lab channel might have some people more intimate with details
-
yanmaani
If the limit is 2MB and there's some extremely low-rent transactions, you might as well add them no?
-
jwinterm
right
-
yanmaani
Thanks, that's what I was looking for
-
jwinterm
np
-
yanmaani
Yeah, so that's the difference here - in this model, such 'holes' could be saved for later
-
