lol thanks king that was a joke
-
Hail_Spacecake
hello
-
Hail_Spacecake
it's been a while since I last looked into monero
-
Hail_Spacecake
is there a recommended wallet that doesn't involve downloading the entire monero blockhain to use?
-
rottensox
Hail_Spacecake: mobile or desktop?
-
Hail_Spacecake
rottensox: desktop
-
Hail_Spacecake
is there a good way to use a mobile allet for any cryptocurrency that isn't vulnerable to having your phone stolen while its on?
-
rottensox
Hail_Spacecake:
mymonero.com
-
Hail_Spacecake
*wallet
-
rottensox
Hail_Spacecake: disk encryption. android lets you do that.
-
Inge-
Hail_Spacecake: you could use a hw wallet with your mobile...
-
rottensox
there's moneroju for android and cake wallet for iOS.
-
rottensox
couple your Trezor model T with moneroju mebbe?
-
rottensox
or crapledger.
-
rottensox
i mean, ledger.
-
Hail_Spacecake
yeah, but the android encryption key is based off of your passphrase that you have to type in every time you restart the phone, so it's prone to being weak, right?
-
Hail_Spacecake
or your phone could just be stolen while it's on, which is more what I'm worried about
-
rottensox
or you're just being ultra paranoid?
-
rottensox
;-)
-
rottensox
phones are hot wallets. keep on them change amounts. keep on hw wallets your savings.
-
rottensox
one is day-to-day expenses, the other is the savings, don't touch for any given reason. shovel the seed up a dog's butthole in Sri Lanka.
-
Hail_Spacecake
rottensox: yeah I guess tha'ts fair
-
Hail_Spacecake
if my phone was stolen I'd have a bad day as it is
-
Hail_Spacecake
having an amount of monero on it equivalent to the cash in my wallet wouldn't be worse
-
rottensox
ya.
-
Hail_Spacecake
still, good to be paranoid when dealing with cryptocurrencies
-
rottensox
oh honey, you are in paranoia land.
-
rottensox
let's dance.
-
Hail_Spacecake
I was mining monero for a while last year, on a gaming pc wiht a decent graphics card
-
Hail_Spacecake
then I stopped, mostly because I moved
-
rottensox
rad.
-
Hail_Spacecake
I didn't make all that much anyway
-
Flenst
Did this with a 2 Vega 56 card rig in september to december 2017 :)
-
Flenst
There was a time, when the 2 card rig made 440$ a month :'(
-
fluffypony
there was a time when a 2 card rig made 440 BTC a month
-
fluffypony
times change
-
rottensox
damn.
-
midipoet
ah well
-
Flenst
There was a time when I though mining Bitcoin on my cpu for 60 cents a day is not worth it, and then I skipped fast forward to 2017 :O
-
Flenst
Was it CPU? Don't know, issed the train xD
-
nonie
Hey - my first steps to communicate with monero-wallet-rpc. XD
-
nonie
-
nonie
You need torsocks to pipe git through your tor proxy.
-
nonie
-
asymptotically
nonie: cloning it now :)
-
nonie
All it does is send a "get_version" request and receives a JSON response.
-
nonie
asymptotically: nice.
-
nonie
asymptotically: cmake and libcurl is required.
-
asymptotically
i'm loving the ascii art :D
-
nonie
asymptotically: Thx. XD
-
nonie
You get the ascii art by mnp --version.
-
» rottensox humps nonie's leg
-
nonie
wtf XD
-
nonie
mnp will probably never get a full grown wallet - but it could maybe be used to check for incoming transaction with a one liner in bash.
-
asymptotically
you could make a bash function that uses curl + jq in bash to do it too i guess, but that isn't as fun
-
nonie
asymptotically: True.
-
nonie
asymptotically: while true; do inotifywait -e modify /mymonero/txid .. - Let the OS do the work for you.
-
nikitasius
selsta: ETH stil syncing idk where they the hell found 4h for fast syc
-
nikitasius
*sync
-
xie
Hello, I have a question about wallet rpc "get_transfer_by_txid"
-
xie
It returns JsonObject "transfer" and JsonArry "transfers"
-
xie
Which one should I take?
-
nikitasius
xie: i use transfers, here is why
monero-project/monero #5611
-
nikitasius
xie: due in transfers array you have all transfers
-
nikitasius
idk why they left in their API transfer object.
-
moneromooo
transfer is the first element of transfers, for backward compatibility.
-
xie
Thanks for your reply. will take transfers array
-
xie
Another question is that "sweep_all" sweeps only one subaddress every time
-
xie
Is it designed like this?
-
moneromooo
Yes.
-
xie
Got it
-
xie
When I called get_transfer_by_txid from the wallet contains my view key, sometimes I got some weird "in" transfer which should be "out"
-
xie
Maybe it is a change?
-
moneromooo
Is it a view only wallet ?
-
xie
Yes
-
moneromooo
Then it doesn't see what's leaving the wallet unless you export/import outputs and key images, which you have apparently not done.
-
xie
How to export/import outputs and key images? Does it require my private key
-
xie
I am trying to avoid such weird msg with "sweep_all"
-
xie
Does this completely solve my problem?
-
selsta
nikitasius: Still syncing and you are using fast sync? lol
-
moneromooo
-
xie
Ok, it may requires frequent manual operation
-
xie
helps a lot, thanks
-
nikitasius
selsta: yes
-
nikitasius
and it's pissing me off their geth. before it was not like this.
-
nikitasius
they arleady shared on github, about this "last mile" shit. last 60-70 blocks
-
floam412
Hey guys, can I still send a transaction with a payment ID attached to the transaction since we are still before Nov 30th?
-
moneromooo
Yes.
-
moneromooo
The recipient might have trouble seeing it if they updated.
-
mfed3[m]
<Flenst "There was a time when I though m"> Lol did the same was mining on a nvidia card in 2012 and was like this isnt worth shit
-
moneromooo
But then it's their own damn fault for leaving it till the last moment to stop using payment ids.
-
mfed3[m]
Good thing I saved the private key and password. ..it was worth $1500 in 2017
-
mfed3[m]
Mining for a week on a midrange GPU
-
floam412
moneromooo, but would explorers in the future would still be able to see the payment ID in the future?
-
moneromooo
Probably.
-
floam412
figured I might do a couple tx's with payment ID's while I still can, haha
-
floam412
can't find where to do it in the GUI tho
-
moneromooo
That's probably a good thing :)
-
floam412
haha, probably
-
floam412
stupid fungible nonsense ;)
-
binaryFate
Anyone knows of a public RPC node still on 0.14?
-
selsta
binaryFate: uwillrunanodesoon.moneroworld.com:18089
-
Mochi101
binaryFate, try localhost:18089
-
Mochi101
:P
-
Mochi101
I would have set one up for you.
-
Mochi101
But it seems you have one already.
-
binaryFate
thank you selsta, seems to work
-
zenosama
hey
-
zenosama
where could I find info: "pubtype", "p2shtype", and "wiftype"
-
zenosama
for monero
-
zenosama
anyone here?
-
Mochi101
hey
-
Mochi101
I am here
-
zenosama
do you know where i could find parameters for monero such as:
-
zenosama
"pubtype", "p2shtype", and "wiftype"
-
binaryFate
zenosama these stuff are specific to bitcoin forks. Monero is not a bitcoin fork
-
zenosama
ah i see, cause i try to add it to atomicDEX exchange
-
zenosama
does monero support similiar functionality to the "CheckLockTimeVerify" of the Bitcoin protocol? Wherein a utxo can be locked
-
moneromooo
The creator of an output can set it to be spent no earlier than a given height. AFAIK, this is not quite the same as Bitcoin.
-
manifest
so unlocktime is supposed to represent the height when it becomes available?
-
moneromooo
Yes.
-
Mochi101
Forced HODL
-
manifest
i never really fucked around with it so i just put "if the transaction unlock time anything else than 0 it'll be considered a donation" into my program lul
