locustlord
how do I join a pool from the monero gui?
-
hv-bridge
<HashVault> You can't. Use xmrig.
-
hv-bridge
<Neo_Chen> Where can I exchange Stellar Network XLM to Monero without a bank account?
-
hv-bridge
<Neo_Chen> Sorry, wrong channel
-
marmulak2
definitely wrong channel
-
locustlord
I'm having trouble connecting to my node
-
locustlord
what am I suppose to put for hostname?
-
locustlord
in monerujo
-
locustlord
shouldn't I be able to connect to my node using the ip/domainname
-
manifest
sure, is the node directly behind the ip, does it have a firewall/nat in front?
-
locustlord
yep
-
locustlord
monerujo just asks for the hostname though
-
locustlord
when I try to add a node
-
manifest
can you telnet to the ip:port combo of the node`?
-
locustlord
I'm not running a telnet server on this node
-
locustlord
so uuh no
-
locustlord
but I can connect to it given that a port is forwarded through other means
-
manifest
telnet is just a tcp connection and you can talk whatever protocol you want through it
-
manifest
i guess you could try it with netcat as well
-
locustlord
huh windows doesn't have telnet by default
-
manifest
i'd probably check it with the telnet, and if that doesnt connect i'd check with nmap
-
manifest
and if that fails it probably has a firewall of some sort up
-
locustlord
I don't think you're understanding my problem honestly
-
manifest
or no --confirm-external-bind on the node if daemons even need that
-
locustlord
my issue is with monerujo
-
locustlord
I don't see where to put in an ip/domain
-
manifest
which is a wallet that connects to a monero node amirite?
-
locustlord
it only asks for a hostname
-
manifest
... just put the ip where the hostname goes
-
manifest
more or less interchangeable
-
manifest
at least in this context they should be or monerujo is a shit program
-
locustlord
if I telnet in manifest should I be trying to connect to the port of the node?
-
manifest
naturally, atleast on linux telnet is just "telnet hostname/ip port"
-
locustlord
well that's a bit strange
-
locustlord
it opens a cmd and closes it immediately
-
manifest
so that would be "telnet 192.168.0.1 10050" or "telnet myhostname.com 10050"
-
locustlord
doing it in putty
-
locustlord
is the monero node not running on 18080?
-
manifest
i think its the normal port for it so it should unless changed
-
locustlord
ok I added a bootstrap address to my node this time
-
locustlord
so I'm restarting the daemon
-
manifest
locustlord: if the node is on the public internet a tool like
portcheckers.com will probably come handy if you dont have a linux box to poke ports with
-
locustlord
I already checked and it CAN be seen
-
locustlord
I've run servers and stuff on this computer before
-
manifest
i remember when i put my wallet-rpc up i was thinking for hours that i have a firewall or something fucking the connection, but all it was was the wallet syncing and the program just not telling me that it's still syncing and that it doesn't have the web server open yet
-
locustlord
manifest, I already synced it
-
locustlord
I used monerod
-
locustlord
ok now I'm getting network status: wrong version
-
locustlord
nvm now it's connected
-
manifest
molto bene
-
dafal
good morning folks, hey i running a full node, 15.0.1, finish synced, but i have allways a message: INC] peer claims higher version that we think (60 for 1981865 instead of 12) - what is that mean ? and i have all correct ports forwarded, but if i connect, the msg is: out of sync... all software is on date.
-
nikitasius
selsta: hi! you wanted to know about syncing on 0.15.0.0. Well.. already 10h syncing and it's on 67%
-
nikitasius
selsta: guess this version syncing slower than 0.14
-
selsta
nikitasius: Yes, you need v0.15.0.1 :)
-
selsta
v0.15.0.0 has a sync bug
-
nikitasius
fok
-
selsta
making it slow
-
nikitasius
if i will interrupt it now i can continue with 0.15.0.1?
-
nikitasius
or i need to wipe?
-
nikitasius
selsta: i.e. data is not corrupted?
-
selsta
no not corrupt
-
selsta
just slower
-
selsta
you can continue with v0.15.0.1
-
blueingress
can we use monero-linux-x64-v0.15.0.1.CLI now?
-
blueingress
node and cli_wallet...
-
nikitasius
selsta: there are no other changes? API/configs?
-
nikitasius
well, hope signature is correct :) `8d61f992a7e2dbc3d753470b4928b5bb9134ea14cf6f2973ba11d1600c0ce9ad` it passed gpg verification

nonie_: i verified already
-

sha256sum is matched to `8d61f992a7e2dbc3d753470b4928b5bb9134ea14cf6f2973ba11d1600c0ce9ad`
-
nikitasius
blueingress: yep thanks <3
-
nonie_
Did you also verified if the hash is correct?
-
nikitasius
it matching well
-
nikitasius
nonie_: yep, i checked sha256 + verified hashes.txt file
-
nonie_
thumbs up.
-
nikitasius
if noone fcked up fluppony keys, github repo and website again.. should be fine :)
-

If you meet him in person, let him verify the signature, then you should be fine. XD
-
selsta
nikitasius: sync faster now? :)
-
nikitasius
sorry got network error on my wifi
-
nikitasius
-
blueingress
nikitasius, that's greate , the node and cli upgrade to v0.15.0.1 without problem... and synced...
-
nikitasius
blueingress: yep
-
nikitasius
selsta: syncing pretty fast now :)
-
dafal
i run a node with v0.15.0.1 and the msg in the node is:peer claims higher version that we think (60 for 1981961 instead of 12) AND if i connect with the client to my node i have the msg: out of sync, but it is 100% sync.
-
selsta
dafal: you can ignore it
-
dafal
hmm ok
-
dafal
now i have in the client the msg: Error: Refreshed 1959028/?, daemon connection error
-
dafal
?!? but the node really runs and the ports are open
-
kayront
dafal: run tcpdump/wireshark and see what's happening on the wire
-
kayront
so what's up with the xmrto onion?
-
nikitasius
selsta: well working so
-
nikitasius
dafal: i'm on 0.15.0.1 now and it's working fine
-
dafal
the node runnig fine, the cli client running find, ports and firewall is correct, but if i wanna connect the cli to set_daemon
getent.ch:18081 first not sync, sync was fin then conn error ...
-
dafal
all is up to date
-
dafal
but the node was allways 100% sync .. ^^
-
dafal
status of the node: Height: 1974593/1974593 (100.0%) on mainnet, not mining, net hash 298.04 MH/s, v11 (next fork in 5.3 days), up to date, 62(out)+6(in) connections
-
PauleBert
on getmonero.org the link to the freebsd v0.15 still points to v0.14 but if you change the download link manually to v0.15 it will actually donwload the correct file and the hash on the website also matches the v0.15 version
-
selsta
PauleBert: browser cache
-
PauleBert
doesn't work for me
-
selsta
PauleBert: try a different browser / private window
-
selsta
hmm ok the freebsd one does seem wrong
-
PauleBert
there is not much to do the files are already correct someone just forgot to update the link on the website
-
fluffypony
well the file was physically there
-
fluffypony
it's just the redirect
-
fluffypony
you can guess the filename pretty easily
-
PauleBert
yes i did :D just wanted to let you know :)
-
fluffypony
it's already fixed :)
-
PauleBert
nice :)
-

thank you floofy
-
dafal
holy cow, now all works fine... my node:
getent.ch:18081 open for the network ! :)
-
darsie
How much of monero premine is still owned by the preminers?
-
dEBRUYNE
There was no premine :-P
-
darsie
I heard there was (accidental) premine. Or was that another coin?
-
darsie
Hmm, maybe it was dash.
-
dafal
yeah i heard the some but of a other coin. around 20 Blocks or so
-
dEBRUYNE
darsie: Not Monero, so must be another coin :-P
-
darsie
ok
-
dafal
or 20 days of mining... i dont know
-
darsie
Yeah, looks like it was dash:
dashdot.io/alpha/?page_id=118 sorry.
-
needmonero90
Monero, Dash... Basically the same thing, right?
-
darsie
Yeah. IIRC dash, formerly darkcoin or so was a privacy improvement over bitcoin.
-
moneromooo
FWIW, when you take all the shit that happened with it that went the same compounding way, it's 99% certain those things weren't accidents, but a planned scam unfolding.
-
needmonero90
But all the people who mined the absurd number of coins at the start due to the bug voted to keep the coins, how is that not fair
-
needmonero90
It was democratic!
-
moneromooo
Bytecoin leaves them in the rear mirror for techhnical scammy chutzpah though.
-
needmonero90
Agree lol
-
darsie
They could have sent it to a burner address.
-
gingeropolous
well and then all those coins went to the free market
-
gingeropolous
because free markets solve everything
-
midipoet
has there been any other sector/industry in history that began with so many/so much scams, lies and greed as the blockchain industry?
-
midipoet
perhaps it's a symptom of a wider problem though
-
gingeropolous
id posit that the early days (and even still today) of medicine are full of scams, lies and greed
-
gingeropolous
i mean, snake oil salesmen is exactly that
-
moneromooo
I was going to say astrology and medicine, but that was more based on my modern view of it, which isn't fair.
-
moneromooo
Medicine was probably well intentioned for the most part.
-
moneromooo
So... marketing.
-
moneromooo
At its heart, it is scamming people. Convincing them to change their minds, usually by overriding their reasoning.
-
gingeropolous
an aside, but one of my new favorite history nuggets is that the man responsible for modern medicine's training style for MDs (80+ hour weeks, ridiculous shifts)... was, at the time he developed this style, testing cocaine on himself as an analgesic.
-
Inge-
so basically - cocaine good?
-
needmonero90
Midipoet: basically every unregulated financial market ever
-
needmonero90
Snake oil salesmen are as old as the hills
-
midipoet
While true, I am not sure if we have seen it on the same scale before (but maybe that is ignorant). I mean the $4billion EOS ICO is a case in point.
-
moneromooo
o_O Did you mean billion with a b ?
-
midipoet
Lol
-
midipoet
billion with a b is correct.
-
» moneromooo guesses yes, 4 million isn't that much.
-
midipoet
No, I meant b
-
needmonero90
Yep eos snagged four billion dollars in their ico
-
needmonero90
That's pre crash valuation fyi
-
midipoet
That's true, but that was also the current market value
-
DeanWeen
at least eos had a product. Onecoin raised nearly 4 billion too
-
kinghat
-
xpitr
heh so BitBay is closing monero market .. because "it's highly anonymous and can be used to launder money"
-
nikitasius
xpitr: there are many other exchanges who support it
-
xpitr
yea i don'
-
xpitr
t care tbh, just received this email heh
-
xpitr
what a great reason "it's too anonymous"
-
moneromooo
In other news Xi Jinping is closing Hong Kong protests because "it's highly free and can be used to diminish loyalty to the party."
