The CLSAG reviewers gave their approval of the updated linkable anonymity security model and proof, hooray
-
sarang
The preprint is now in much better shape
-
moneromooo
Congrats :)
-
sarang
I'll do a last review in a few days and post the revision to the IACR archive
-
sarang
Still no code changes needed as a result of the preprint review
-
sarang
There's still a bit of typesetting etc.
-
gingeropolous
huzzah!
-
sarang
Hmm there's a conference workshop I'd like to submit to, but it exceeds their page limits
-
sarang
boo
-
sarang
The world of academic papers is digital! Better establish some weird typesetting rules, margins, and page limits
-
moneromooo
I'd like to submit a paper, but it's too long for this margin...al conference
-
sarang
Papers have a lot of long equations? Better make wide margins
-
sarang
Bah, not sure how to make CLSAG 16 pages without axing all of the security proofs
-
sarang
and a huge chunk of the narrative
-
UkoeHB_
16 pages... sounds like you need to try a smaller font size :)
-
sarang
if only
-
sarang
Paper too short? "Needs longer proofs"
-
sarang
Paper too long? "Needs shorter proofs"
-
sarang
-______-
-
sarang
and the format they require does have very wide margins, which is not helpful
-
UkoeHB_
time to start your own journal sarang, self publishing is the best :p
-
sarang
Nothing says peer review like your own journal
-
sarang
I've probably said this before, but I would love to see a Journal of Incremental Cryptography
-
sarang
There are so many papers that it becomes a contest for who does the most earth-shattering stuff
-
sarang
and there's a lot of good incremental work that seems to have no proper home
-
UkoeHB_
"I've probably said this before, but I would love to see a Journal of Incremental Cryptography" <- pretty sure I've only heard part of this story ^.^
-
sarang
Heh, that's about it
-
sarang
I think it'd be useful for the ecosystem
-
sarang
especially for applied stuff
-
sarang
If journals/proceedings only want big new flashy things, there's not really a good home for solid incremental work that has good applications
-
sarang
and because the submission/review process is so long, work can quickly become less big new flashy
-
sarang
Preprint archives serve a kinda sorta home for that stuff, but there's no review here
-
sarang
*there
-
sarang
Looks like freenode did their server rerouting...
-
UkoeHB_
you can disable the join/leave messages in irccloud
-
sarang
I think CLSAG falls into that incremental improvement stuff... it's smaller and faster, and now has a much better security model than the early work, but it's not world-shattering by any means
-
sarang
but it's a clear and definite improvement with great applications
-
sarang
Yet it may never find a journal/proceedings home, depending on reviewers' whims
-
UkoeHB_
isn't the more basic problem a lack of reviewers?
-
sarang
I'm sure that's true for many journals/proceedings
-
sarang
and a thorough review is time-consuming
