yes, ive just changed the boost::uuids::uuid const NETWORK_ID, genesis_nonce and the ports so don't conflict with monero network

The genesis nonce might not yield a hash below target. Log level 2 should tell you what's wrong. Maybe.

I have the feeling that people are still not very much aware of pruning. Would it make sense to ask users if they prefer to run a pruned node the first time they sync a node from scratch? Similar from how we do for solo mining.

i know we prune differently, but for example bitcoin core has pruning enabled by default. That's definitely better ux imo.

I'm trying to debug monerod but it freezes always, however if I just run the debug/bin/monerod binary it runs normally. any help on what cause this? using gdb in vscode

I would say that's an argument for making it a checkbox or prompt instead of default imo
