It'd be a lot easier to contribute to monero directly, if that's your goal.

Features you may wnt to contribute to monero also might or might not be acceptable to monero contributors as a whole.

So discussing first "would you like this or that feature" would be best so you don't spend time on something which would stay on your fork only.
