<rbrunner7> Mmmmmmmmmm: I already got a headache from that animated GIF on your github :) Seriously, maybe just a single GIF, or play it with 10 times less speed? I will review.
-
xmrmatterbridge
<rbrunner7> Oh, I forgot, -dev does not relay ...
-
selsta
it does

selsta
but he does not have speech permissions
-
xmrmatterbridge
<rbrunner7> Yeah, just saw it. What do you mean, "no speech permissions"?
-
selsta
channel requires being voiced
-
xmrmatterbridge
<rbrunner7> Sure. Right now I could not write directly on IRC, understood. But if I write here in Mattermost, all is well, no?
-
Inge-
we see it on irc, rbrunner7, if that is what you mean.
-
xmrmatterbridge
<rbrunner7> Yes. Sorry for the confusion.
-
Mmmmmmmmmm
Thanks xmrmatterbridge

moneromooo so I've been looking at
monero-project/monero #6963 in the light of recent events and I have a question. Why is /16 filtering only applied to IPv4 addresses? IPv4 mapped in IPv6 addresses are not filtered by /16
-
sech1
nvm, the latest code fixed it
-
sech1
that makes it rather efficient. Asshole peers use only a few /16 ranges
-
moneromooo
I know close to nothing about IPv6. Feel free to improve anything you see I missed.
-
sech1
I'm checking the latest code now and it looks reasonable
-
moneromooo
In particular, my knowledge about IPv6-in-IPv4 comes from wikipedia after I noticed the curious IPv6 addresses in peer lists.
-
moneromooo
And it looks like there's a fair number of "interesting" schemes in IPv6, so there might be other ways to embed those in.

m2049r wants to be able to talk here from Matrix. Is this possible?
-
selsta
yes
-
selsta
I never used matrix but people write here from matrix so should be possible
-
moneromooo
Nick ? Matrix usually adds [m] suffix, I see only m2049r here.
-
hyc
this message seems to be inaccurate
-
hyc
2020-11-10 19:58:49.270 W Lost all outbound connections to anonymity network - currently unable to send transaction(s)
-
hyc
I had long-standing i2p outbound connections at that moment
-
hyc
tho possibly no outbound tor connections
-
selsta
yes, if you enable both tor and i2p
-
selsta
is uses both, so if one is missing it will print that message
-
hyc
seems like we could stand to be more specific
-
selsta
but also if you send a tx
-
selsta
it will not send it until both are connected
-
selsta
afaik
-
selsta
not sure if that is intended behaviour
-
hyc
that definitely sounds like a bug
-
hyc
it means nodes that are on both networks, presumably for better connectivity, will actually have worse than nodes on only one or the other
-
selsta
yep
-
selsta
would prefer that changed too
-
hyc
yeah, lemme take a peek
-
hyc
seems like that message is per-zone
-
hyc
so loss in one shouldn't affect the other
-
selsta
I did see that behaviour, tx not sending until I removed i2p tx-proxy even though I had many out connections for Tor
-
selsta
that was while I didn’t have i2p out connections
-
hyc
hmm
-
selsta
messaging being per zone does seem like what we are experiencing? right?
-
hyc
yeah
-
hyc
%
-
hyc
nothing obvious to me, someone else will have to look at it
-
hyc
also, the list of connections is filtered by blockchain height
-
hyc
so a connection may exist, but be ignored if the remote node is behind the expected height
-
hyc
so this message is definitely misleading
-
selsta
but if a node is behind we don’t want to send them tx anyway, right?
-
selsta
afaik they drop it
-
hyc
sure. but the messae is "lost all connections" which is false
-
selsta
yep
-
moneromooo
Lost all outbound connections to [this] anonymity network
-
moneromooo
The second part is misleading though.
-
hyc
can we please have it log the name of [this] network ...
-
hyc
or change the message to something like "no suitable outbound [xxx] connections"
-
» moneromooo votes yes
-
hyc
"... for height hhh"
-
hyc
hm, I don't see how to get the zone ID out of detail::zone in cryptonote_protocol/levin_notify.cpp

Can someone explain what grace_blocks is in get_fee_estimate? Is this the amount of blocks in which you want your transaction to be included in? i.e. lower grace_blocks, higher fee?

<m2049r> gingeropolous: yes. before i'm done with it the workaround would be to use orbot which works perfectly with monerujo.
