Joining rooms on other home servers via links does not work, FWIW. That seems to be the only outstanding issue.

You can create 'Communities' which is basically a collection of rooms

it's actually pretty lame we can't do this, since it would streamline the initial onboarding a lot

As a workaround, assuming -community would be the most visisted

The nice thing is that it only shows 'local' rooms, which are Monero rooms, so not much noise to begin with

If you use the dropdown within that menu, you can select matrix.org, etc. (Which is how I'm tied into the Monero Translations room on matrix.org)

But for people like me who have other homeservers, the room directory of monero.social is foreign and not public.

As far as I could understand from the github thread I posted, the admin of the matrix instance must make the room directory public.

Yeah, this seems to be the case messing around on mobile. Looks like admins will need to update config rehrar : ^ pigeons ^

FWIW, found a bug w/ the Element client on desktop. Once you've specified a different home server, if you log out and try to select the matrix.org home server, it doesn't remember the selection, so you're effectively barred from matrix.org again. tl;dr if using Element, no going back to matrix.org if you use a different home sever

xmrscott: this was a solution that another fella of mine worked out.

It was the same issue, not being able to add bitcoinenemies.com homeserver to your client's room directory.

Now, I succeeded in adding that matrix homeserver to my client to browse, and can see all the public chat rooms in that homeserver.

When all these Matrix shenanigans are figures out, might be a good idea to make a simple guide for Element users to join on Getmonero.org

It may have to do with the spam point system email providers use and tutanote having a higher threshhold than Protonmail

As in, tutanote won't even put it in spam if it's below a certain set of 'points'

I suppose reh or pige could use mail-tester.com and see if they can bring the score up a bit
