Great stats shared on Reddit, dEBRUYNE !
-
donkeydonkey[m]
yeah good one

sethsimmons
I shared on Twitter but would be good to share via the main account as well, those are very important metrics for people to see IMO.

Remember kids. If you call project coral reef for what it is - fluffy embezzling half a mil usd from the monero fund for a website with smaller adoption than monero woo plugin, you will get excommunicated.

rehrar
Meeting here in five minutes.
-
rehrar
hey everyone. Time for a meeting.
-
rehrar
1. Greetings
-
rehrar
Who's here?
-
msvb-lab
Hello.
-
v1docq47[m]
hi
-
rehrar
Anyone else? :)
-
rehrar
If not, this may be a short meeting, but that's ok.
-
rehrar
2. CCS updates
-
rehrar
Just two to discuss.
-
rehrar
-
rehrar
mj part time coding
-
rehrar
as far as I know there weren't any issues with the last one?
-
rehrar
but it seems selsta isn't here to verify
-
rehrar
I'll leave the floor open for a couple of minutes for anyone to chime in. If not, we'll move on.
-
rotten
oh, hai.
-
rehrar
Alright, let's move on.
-
rehrar
v1docq47[m]: your up
-
rehrar
-
rehrar
you got another CCS proposal.
-
rehrar
How's your work been going so far?
-
v1docq47[m]
Everything is fine, I plan to finish the CDC transcripts and the ZtM translation
-
v1docq47[m]
and of course new content for the youtube channel
-
rehrar
Cool, well I see no issues with your thing, so hopefully it'll be moved soon.
-
rehrar
There's no workgroup leaders here to give a report, so doing the Workgroup reports won't be eventful
-
rehrar
But we still do have 4. Mattermost deprecation
-
rehrar
Basically sgp_ has opened an issue (
monero-project/meta #534) to deprecate our mattermost instance. It's seen moderate usage, and the bridges are somewhat unstable.
-
rehrar
The reasoning being that Mattermost has a few large security issues that haven't been fixed (and have to be paid for via the freemium model), and Matrix has evolved much in the past two years and is not quite able to bridge to IRC effectively and with little downtime.
-
rehrar
Any comments?
-
rotten
MO heads have been historically very reluctant to hop on IRC, but they've also been tipped about matrix bridges. perhaps deprecating it leaving a note for users relying on it to move to matrix would be warranted? there might be other users besides MO members that use the bridge as well; would be helpful not to shut down the instance without a heads-up.
-
rehrar
yes, it would be done gradually, but the process would be started
-
rotten
and if it helps those who have kept it on to have one responsibility less on their shoulders, it's a win situation.
-
rotten
i'm for it, and when possible, wouldn't mind telling the bridgers to move to the glorious [m] tag.
-
rehrar
cool. thanks for your thoughts rotten
-
rehrar
anyone else?
-
rehrar
if not, I think we can call it here at a 20 min meeting. :P
-
rotten
thanks for keeping up with revuo.
-
rehrar
No worries. We've been going for over a year. Woo!
-
rotten
and welcome back from holiday vacation.
-
rehrar
thanks :)
-
rehrar
alright. meeting over. thanks for coming!
-
rehrar
oh, lol, msvb-lab you just rejoined.
-
rehrar
Did you have anything to say about this issue:
monero-project/meta #534
-
msvb-lab
Yes, I'm here.
-
rehrar
Also, if you had a hardware update for us, that'd be cool too.
-
msvb-lab
You rehrar are asking my opinion about if we should deprecate Mattermost as sgp recommends?
-
rehrar
yes. Since Matrix covers most bases these days, and mattermost has some security issues if you don't pay for their freemium service. Issues that they won't fix because it interferes with their revenue model.
-
msvb-lab
My opinion is not so valid, because I have not paid attention to the reasons he gave. I guess I would agree to deprecate Mattermost if it is using resources and not serving us well.
-
rehrar
Ok. Thanks. :)
-
msvb-lab
I use Mattermost about once per year.
-
msvb-lab
The hardware activities (across all electronic devices) at the moment relate to advanced topics like crystal oscillation and load capacitors. We've received instruments to measure and adjust this, but the information is too advanced to explain in this meeting.
-
rehrar
Alrighty. That's fine.
-
rehrar
Well msvb-lab, we decided to call the meeting early because not many people showed up this time.
-
msvb-lab
Thanks for asking. Do you have an update about any of your current projects?
-
rehrar
Unless you had something you wanted to discuss?
-
rotten
kastelo wen.
-
rehrar
msvb-lab: yes, Revuo Periodical is coming soon. Will sum up the year 2020.
-
msvb-lab
There was a question about Defcon from xmrscott[m] I think, so maybe it's relevant to say that the vending managers (people who give permission to occupy a space in the DC vending area) asked if the village would return this year.
-
rehrar
msvb-lab: are they planning for a physical conference?
-
msvb-lab
I was confused why the vending managers (different than the village managers) were asking about us, so I requested more information.
-
rehrar
ok, thanks for doing that.
-
msvb-lab
They made it clear that the conference may be physical or online, but not decided yet.
-
rehrar
understood
-
msvb-lab
It could be that they are planning for a physical conference, because that kind of planning takes more time. But it is not a stable indication that a physical one will happen.
-
msvb-lab
I think rotten is involved each time a Revuo is published, is he here?
-
rotten
i mean, i should be way more involved, or so i wish. i just brigade for it and plaster it all over the place.
-
rotten
but first... kastelo wen.
-
rehrar
rotten: posts it on reddit.
-
rehrar
I do the Revuo on my own otherwise
-
rotten
it's all rehrar's credit, work, sweat, time, effort.
-
msvb-lab
A Kastelo workshop is half done, which I must send to a traning organiser this week. But I may call it something else, because the device used is a developer kit derivative.
-
msvb-lab
I see, so rotten promotes the Revuo after rehrar writes and publishes it.
-
rehrar
sure
-
rotten
i might be misremembering here, but a handful of meetings back you hinted a dev kit might become available 'soon' and we never got it. :-( was it because of covid supply chain shocks?
-
msvb-lab
The developer kit is a branded derivative of the complete design, so if a paper manual is distributed it has 'Developer Kit' written at the top.
-
msvb-lab
Because that should accompany a moulded enclosure (which is partially delayed by the pandemic) and the enclosure design must change due to supply of the USB connector failing, that is one of a handful of delaying factors.
-
msvb-lab
Another factor is that the developer kit target date was the Konferenco which was cancelled.
-
rehrar
gotcha
-
msvb-lab
And the funding to provide the free of charge devices could have been linked to entrance fees, none of which was developed due to the cancellation.
-
msvb-lab
It's too bad we can't get further with 2021 plans for a Konferenco, as sgp seemed to want to begin considerations about it a week ago.
-
rehrar
yes. We have to wait and see how the continued pandemic situation develops for that.
-
rotten
thanks for explaining. putting aside pandemic shocks, usb shenanigans, and konferenco's cancellation, would you say such derivative dev kit was as almost ready, or ready as i portrayed it to be weeks ago?
-
rotten
s/weeks/months
-
monerobux
rotten meant to say: thanks for explaining. putting aside pandemic shocks, usb shenanigans, and konferenco's cancellation, would you say such derivative dev kit was as almost ready, or ready as i portrayed it to be months ago?
-
msvb-lab
rehrar: I'm sure you don't think we should wait until the 'pandemic is over', which may be a rediculous target. If that's true, then the question is, when to start planning. Like maybe 6 months before we think a EU or US conference is allowed for the first time.
-
rotten
there's been light discussion over pandemic concerns, and consensus seems to have pushed it to 2022. unless a remote, virtual conference turns into gear down the line. for 2021, that is. in person conf. is most likely pushed to 2022. all of this lightly discussed, nothing truly formal.
-
msvb-lab
At this moment I'm working on another project which concludes in a month, and which provides the kind of money that the plastic moulders need to produce the enclosures. It's too complicated to describe any part of it (for example the enclosure) as almost ready.
-
rehrar
msvb-lab: I'm unsure what to think at the moment. I'm actively monitoring the pandemic situation and my opinions are developing slowly.
-
msvb-lab
My next step is to get enough money to make paying for moulding possible, and to replace the design portions that cause a tooling (steel routed injection block) to change.
-
rotten
thanks for your comments. much appreciated.
-
msvb-lab
Planning the next Konference could be very chaotic if wait until all or most pandemic problems resolve. That would be too late and give us problems, but probably none of us has a good answer to the question of when to start planning.
-
rehrar
planning prematurely would be more disastrous. We would count on and reserve space and then be told close to the conference that several people might not be allowed in the country or venue.
-
rotten
^
-
msvb-lab
I mean problems like 'okay now that we can finally have a conference there are just two months to plan it before winter begins... better cancel it again due to the short timespace, even though now we don't have a strong pandemic...'
-
rehrar
Nobody is saying to wait until the pandemic is 100% over, but it would be incredibly unwise to do anything other than wait atm.
-
msvb-lab
I think we should wait as well, but it doesn't feel so good. And as sgp wrote, I think he mentioned that ZCon is planning a physical conference as he asked if we should start as well.
-
msvb-lab
So there are a few considerations to make discussing it (like right here) worthwhile.
-
rehrar
Sure. I don't disagree that the discussion is always on the table.
-
rehrar
But as for my opinion, I say we wait. Revisit in a month or so.
-
msvb-lab
Does anyone know if there is a space meeting today? I think sometimes it is right after the community meeting? Because it may be a better topic for that time?
-
rotten
no space meeting today.
-
rotten
likely no space meeting tomorrow either. they're usually on sundays not to clash with community's on saturdays.
-
msvb-lab
rotten: Okay, I guess I got it wrong. I want to attend the next one.
-
rehrar
aight.
-
rehrar
well imma bounce out. have a few things to do.
-
rehrar
cya guys!
-
msvb-lab
By bye, thanks for moderating the meeting rehrar.
-
rotten
look forward to periodical. thanks for the preannouncement of the announcement.
-
xmrscott[m]
re: DC, the reason they might be 'planning' for a physical is because I think Caesars is the one that has to break the contract. If DC does it, DC pays fines, etc

Where was Roger? Did he kicked off his island by the community for not shutting the fuck up?

I remember feeling sympathy for the guy back in 2017. how wrong I was

The thing is though. Trying to move whether BTC it ETH is pretty expensive at the moment. At least in the wallets I use.

It's a right fucking pain in the ass
