Everyone slightly related to Monero is part of the Monero Company^tm
-
dEBRUYNE
It logically follows that Monero didn't pay out the bug bounty!

I3^RELATIVISM
what roomin the monero comunitie was using matterbridge to connect to keybas?
-
I3^RELATIVISM
researh lab, right?
-
dixie__flatline[
fahrradflucht: that was the nopara (developer of wasabi) leaking the email of warning that samourai sent to them.
-
dixie__flatline[
a proper vulnerability disclosure (technical, and a non-technical one) will be released further today.
-
fahrradflucht[m]
okay but the email already contains what they disclosed to the wasabi guys explaining the issue quite in detail
-
sethsimmons
It doesnt have the technical detail, intentionally
-
sethsimmons
Some of us want to see the technical implementation flaws :)
-
fahrradflucht[m]
I thought there announcement they made didn't contain details intentionally - not the email, didn't expect much more then in the leaked email from the promised details. But let's see.
-
fahrradflucht[m]
I guess seeing the sample spreadsheets would be nice definitely.

guess it is the Matrix bot messing up the message
-
jwinterm
thx
-
ErCiccione[m]
The matrix option to quote a message is not natively supported by IRC. I would say the IRC got messed up because of that.
-
monerod[m]
I see
-
ErCiccione[m]
I would suggest to avoid quoting messages when the matrix room is relayed on IRC (like in this room's case)
-
monerod[m]
Indeed! Will keep that in mind!

i need a phone number for twitter, they think i am bot since i was hitting them via tor exit node. Anyone have a preferred way to get a phone number these days online?
-
hyc
googlevoice
-
rojiro
preferrably something that is known to work with twitter? I am surprised by this given that twitter claims to try and help dissidents and activists, if you can use tor, well, then i suppose it's not very useful.
-
rojiro
*can't use tor
-
rojiro
hyc: okay, i'll get a google account (begrudingly).
-
hyc
it's not horrible, if you never use it for anything else
-
rojiro
hyc: well sadly google is now asking for a phone number, lol

-

jwinterm: thanks, i already have a twitter account, it just got flagged while i was using it, it was only a few hours old, but maybe this russian exit node messed it up.
-
rojiro
i guess i'll need to find a place that sells voip numbers
-
oceanus[m]
-
oceanus[m]
Dunno if legit but it's 2 bucks and they accept crypto
-
rojiro
oceanus[m]: thanks, i'll give it a try
-
rojiro
i looked into it more and they are like a one time thing you do via chat. i think i need to find a voip number that can get sms that i can control long term. very dissapointed in google for not allowing me to sign up without a phone.
-
hyc
SMS is more of a pain. my VOIP providers don't forward SMSs
-
xmrscott[m]
Indeed. I've bought a $20 fliphone + SIM that I reactivate on occasion for creating sock puppets for OSINT CTF's. Hopefully you can find something similar in your area if online fails. :X
-
rojiro
yeah, i recently decide i was going to pick a project and contribute to some OSS, beyond my dsay job. it seemed cool to do so psuedo-anonymously. But it is proven a multi-day effort to just get setup! It's terrible what the internet has become. :(
-
rojiro
next up is domain registeration. i'll have to do some research to find out which domain name suffix is the most agreeable to being registered by a nym. I know you can do whois guard...
-
fluffypony
rojiro: Protonmail / Tutanota, and then create a Google account (you can do so without using them for email)
-
fluffypony
and then you have a Google Voice number
-
fluffypony
voila
-
rojiro
i made a protonmail account and tried registering for google with my protonmail but google is asking for a phonenumber
-
rojiro
fluffypony: i might have just gotten really unlucky, when i was signing up for google my exit node was in russia, i think :(
-
rojiro
i should have checked before proceeding
-
rojiro
i think we are underestimating the amount of mitigation that these companies have had to do. I think we are in a global deep state cyber war and I think it's much worse than we imagine
-
rojiro
the internet was built in such a miserably non-private way. :(
-
xmrscott[m]
rojiro: FWIW there's always the fediverse which a few notable FOSS are on
-
xmrscott[m]
I know Ubuntu has their own instance at ubuntu.social, there's fosstodon, Purism runs an instance as well, etc
-
xmrscott[m]
Working on getting a monero themed one running, but it will probably take another two weeks before it's fully operational enough for people to create an account on
-
rojiro
xmrscott[m]: cool. yeah decentralized social networking and content hosting will be excellent.
-

ErCiccione[m]: Nice work on the blog, perhaps we can add that miners do not have to upgrade their software?

kayront

kayront
expensive, but they receive SMS verification messages
-
kayront
i've used it a few times
-
kayront
as long as you only need to receive a sms once at the start, it's ok. otherwise stupidly expensive
-
rojiro
kayront: this is a great option actually, i'll be doing this if the other thing doesn't work out. love that they have an onion site too! :)
-
luigi1111w
any feedback on ccs 159 and 160?
-
Snipa
Honestly, if you want a long-term voip that will forward SMS and such, I've had good luck w/ Twilio over the years. Cheap and essentially pay-as-you-go. I use them as a front-forwarder so I don't give out my cellphone number in general.
-
rojiro
Snipa: thanks for recommendation. do they accept bitcoin or monero?
-
Snipa
Unfortunately no. Twilio is a very netural carrier all things considered. We utilize them at work, and certainly, our user base is... opinionated. Holding a number is ~1$/mo, and their per minute/per SMS rates are reasonable, particularly for a SMS forwarder or something of that nature.
-
dixie__flatline[
rojiro: have you tried smsprivacy.org ?
-
rojiro
kayront mentioned that one earlier. looks pricey but i'll be trying it later if i am unable to work with the other voip provider
-
rojiro
dixie__flatline[: have you used this?
