sarang had a cool idea of renaming the community tab to "communities"

I think clarifying the nature of workgroups could be very helpful

Maybe thinking of "the Monero community" as "the Monero communities" is subtle but useful

It's like reddit... there is some overarching control relating to guidelines and rules, but subreddits are generally free to organize and run themselves within those boundaries

At least that's a useful analogy to me

and all the other workgroups' collaboration with this one is voluntary, not required (can make this super clear)

Don't like a subreddit? Make another one, and run it how you like

Anyway, to be clear: I am not endorsing any particular view on the community LLC thing... I think making the nature of workgroups much more clear and precise is useful regardless of this particular issue

Having a Communities tab would mean that _someone_ needs to decide when particular communities get to be listed there

How would r/Monero fit into this approach?

For a lot of people (me included!) it can feel a bit confusing about what is considered "official" (whatever that means) and what is up to workgroup moderators

for example, Monero Ecosystem has a bunch of stuff

This came up earlier when someone asked if particular research had been "approved" (or some related language that I don't precisely recall) by MRL... and I didn't like the idea of some kind of official approval for that

MRL is _a_ research workgroup, but NRL is another research workgroup too!

And nobody should require "approval" to share research IMO

Anyway, that's my three cents

I'm sure there are problems with this approach that I haven't considered

sarang, /r/monero operates under democratic majority where abstention doesnt count for or against a particular 'thing'

In general, it comes down to a 2/3 majority from the three active mods
