<supus> not 100% sure how the software knows when a wallet is open in another wallet, but I know it's not done at the OS level so it's proooobably in the cache file. try renaming 'wallet' to 'wallet.old'

if you do this you'll have to rescan the blockchain for your transactions, but I think will prolly work for you

wallet.keys holds the important secret, wallet is just cache stuff, not essential

oday I exchanged $120 from BTC to XMR and it was sent to my sub address. After resyncing over 50 times and resetting the wallet creation height I have still not received the transaction. XMRChain and ExploreMonero both confirm the transaction was sent to the correct sub address, and the transaction is now at 55 confirms.

This is the second time I have lost funds from Exodus and TBH I will never trust it again. Mind you it was only $120 but I'm poor and that's a really shitty loss. I tried importing the private key into the actual Monero GUI and started from 0 but I don't think that will transfer the funds from the sub address correct? I will also try to restore the

yes it will, as long as exodus generated the subaddress in the standard way

XMRGONE: the advice from @sech1 will work. make sure you read both points restore from height 0 and generating subaddresses first

Does it matter if I restore in the Monero GUI, or should I try to restore on a new exodus install. I started the restore from seed on the GUI a couple hours ago 340000 blocks left.

No, just the one. Exodus allows you to add a subaddress and as soon as it receives a transaction it generates a new one

if you know for sure the block height of the first transaction, you can use that as the restore height, instead of 0

but it won't work if you get it wrong, so if you're less than 100% sure it's probably better to just wait

(it has to be less than or equal, which is why 0 always works)
