for a permissionless network the nature of the problem is much like ASIC-resistance versus ASIC-proof

you can't prevent sybils from connecting. you can only make it expensive for them to do so.

Well regardless of the incompatibility the service provider architecture to a permissionless p2p network, so tossing out the supposed sybil resistance, it still seems to offer some interesting things with the Sphinx packets (which apparently LN uses) and Poisson mixing.

is it normal to have zero incoming tor connections (and only transient outgoing tor connections lasting ~5 minutes) a few days after configuring --anonymous-inbound and --tx-proxy ? i have gone over the configuration a number of times and can't find any issues, so i assume this is happening because there are currently few working anonymous nodes on the network and my node is having difficulty finding them/being found

Others have reported short I2P connection lifetime, and tor/i2p are handled very similarly. So it's not just you.

my problem is usually that I have way more in peers than out peers

there are usually 3-5 out peers and 0 in

Run monerod with --prune-blockchain. However, it's very inefficient if you're already synced, so sync from scratch in that case.

its just a coincidence, im looking for a vps closer to home that i can host these services from because my own bandwidth cap is shit. i use hetzner but the latency is terrible. they, on the other hand, were able to give me one word answer "yes".

no. just a coincidence as i was trying to find hosts in the states that will let me host those services. ive been inquiring with them before i move anything over for obvious reasons.

i can follow up in the email about the issue though as im already in an "elevated" state with their support.

maybe try evolution host, they even accept payment in monero and seem to have loose policies wrt what you can run on their instances

im also cheap. so was looking at these small VPS that dont have a lot of hardware but tons of bandwidth. i pay like $3/m with hetzner.
