When I created the wallet back then I got 25 words, which I stored in an encrypted text file. Now I downloaded v0.17.1.4, which updated the blockchain successfully, although it printed some errors when updating the DB version from 4 to 5: "failed to find transaction 16:17:42 input in key images" in the beginning. 16:18:53 Now I tried to open the wallet with my saved words but I only get invalid password. There are some non-ascii chars in them, like öüäß, did the encoding change? Or are newline chars a problem? How can I find out what is going on? 16:19:43 Newline chars inside the password? 16:21:16 If it's on windows, it was handling UTF-8 badly IIRC. Because Windows uses UCS2-LE internally IIRC. So restore from your seed. 16:22:04 No, this is linux. Stupid question: what is the seed? 16:22:16 The 25 word list. 16:22:31 Ah! cool! Will try. Thanks :) 16:23:16 Or did you try to use those words as password to your existing wallet file ? 16:23:27 yes, I did... 16:23:37 You don't remember your original password ? :) 16:23:57 Did I have to have one back then? :-o 16:24:17 Most likely. You might have used an empty one, 16:24:31 Anyway, restoring from the seed bypasses all that. 16:34:32 I think I'm on the right track :-) Public wallet address is correct, daemon is synchronized, wallet opened. But it now says "Wallet blocks remaining:" with some 1.5 Million. What is that? Has the wallet also a separate chain? 16:43:40 Ok, I think I got it. It is the number of blocks the wallet is scanning to find relevant transactions. I got all my XMR back. Thanks for your help! :-) 16:47:37 \o/ 18:13:03 Will there be a monero GUI update pushed soon? 18:13:10 I mean notification in app 18:13:23 An update was just pushed. 18:13:42 You should have seen it already, I got it a couple of days ago without issue on Linux. 18:13:48 V0.17.1.5 is the latest. 18:19:27 restart it mebbe 18:22:22 viperperidot[m]: multiple people confirmed that they got the notification 18:22:27 which OS are you using? 18:25:43 Srry looks like its working now I just had to leave the wallet open for a bit 18:25:49 Im on Ubuntu 19:04:18 what is size of mronero blockchain ? 19:04:31 more than 100gb ? 19:04:48 pruned 30gb, unpruned around 100gb 19:05:11 i have 93GB as of right now 19:18:51 tnx 22:10:11 https://teddit.net/about 22:10:11 always feels great to see monero donation addresses above bitcoin ones :D
