majonyemima[m]What’s more recommended for crypto and why? Ubuntu or fedora? Does it make a difference which type of crypto? Sorry if OT. I could ask this in several groups. DM responses would be appreciated if this is too OT.
-
majonyemima[m]On the Getmonero.org it mentions both distros, but I notice bitcoin tutorials just say “Linux” in a general sense. So, I just wanted to know what experiences you’ve had, esp as a newbie. I have Win10, but will most likely remove that for obvious reasons.
-
Copenhagen_BramI think you'll have a pretty similar experience whether you use Ubuntu or Fedora.

yanmaani^
-
yanmaaniDoes Monero have an equivalent of "coin days destroyed"?
-
binaryFateno, since you can't know which coins are actually spent
-
binaryFateyou could draw a uppper and lower bounds by picking the oldest and youngest members in all ring signatures but the range would be enormous and completely meaningless
-
yanmaaniAnd you couldn't see the quantity either, right?
-
binaryFateyes, also that :)
-
yanmaaniIf you could see the amount, I think it'd be possible. Just handle each transaction probabilistically. But hmm, yes.
-
yanmaaniSo there's no way to reliably tell how many outputs are dormant then either?
-
dEBRUYNENo, because an output could get included as decoy
-
dEBRUYNEWhilst not actually being spent
-
dEBRUYNESo it would falsely influence any conclusion
-
moneromoooYou can know how many outputs are unspent, by subtracting the number of rings from the number of outputs created.
-
moneromoooSome outputs are 0 amount sent to random addresses though.
-
yanmaanidEBRUYNE: assuming the decoy selection is vald, that'd be fine, but the lack of value info is a deal breaker.
-
yanmaaniand there's no way to approximate it?
-
xmrmatterbridge<sp00pycrypto> hello
-
dEBRUYNEyanmaani: No, not really
-
dEBRUYNEAt least nog in a reliable way
