leonardus
hi, I need help buying monero
-
leonardus
which exchange should I use?
-
leonardus
should I use an exchange at all?
-
moneromooo
An exchange is safer if you withdraw your money right after your transaction. But they'll want your personal info, most likely.
-
moneromooo
More complicated: bisq.

sethsimmons
-
sethsimmons
Lots of good info in there 🙂
-
ghost_matrix[m]
Quick question is bisq anonymous? or the safest option right now in terms of not having to give info?
-
sethsimmons
It’s one of the safest, yes.
-
sethsimmons
It’s p2p with arbitrators as needed, and all over Tor
-
ghost_matrix[m]
> It’s one of the safest, yes.
-
ghost_matrix[m]
ok makes sense :)
-
ghost_matrix[m]
Can you cash out on bisq for fiat?
-
sethsimmons
Only BTC AFAIK
-
sethsimmons
But it’s been a while since I’ve been on there
-
ghost_matrix[m]
I see so you can cash out but only via BTC?
-
sethsimmons
I’d have to double check, not 100% sure
-
ghost_matrix[m]
Thats ok i will look into it :)
-
ghost_matrix[m]
Seems like bisq is the best option right now especially because of tor integreation
-
ghost_matrix[m]
* Seems like bisq is the best option right now especially because of tor integration
-
leonardus
also windows defender has a false-positive on the monero GUI wallet
-
moneromooo
Most antivirus do. Monero not big enough for those people to bother doing a good job.
-
leonardus
is there a way to calculate/approximate how long I would have to mine in order to get 1 XMR?
-
leonardus
I have a Ryzen 3600 and RTX 2080 Super
-
moneromooo
Most pools have a widget that does kinda that.
-
moneromooo
You put your hash rate in. Run a miner for a minute to get your hash rate.
-
niocbrrrrrr
leonardus: unless you have free elec don't bother with the GPU as it is very inefficient with RandomX
-
leonardus
niocbrrrrrr: noted, thanks
-
leonardus
I could only get my identity verification to work on Coinbase so I bought some LTC which I can hopefully then find someone to sell me XMR with
-
doktoro
im getting the error "#monero-markets: Cannot send to nick/channel" When I try to post in monero markets :(
-
Inge-
leonardus: you can trade for xmr on binance or tradeogre without KYC

I assume you have it running, you have the right IP, the right port, no closed firewall, no masquerading to setup, no http/https mixup ?

Dean_Guss
on getmonero.org it says:
-
Dean_Guss
Show hashes to verify your download
-
Dean_Guss
These SHA256 hashes are listed for convenience, but a GPG-signed list of the hashes is at getmonero.org/downloads/hashes.txt and should be treated as canonical, with the signature checked against the appropriate GPG key in the source code.
-
Dean_Guss
but I import binaryfate's pgp key as given in the link and hashes.txt does not appear to be signed with that key
-
Dean_Guss
NEVERMIND! figured out my error
-
Dean_Guss
I thought the .asc on github was curl-able but you gotta click through and get the raw pgp
