11:14:35 <dEBRUYNE> ErCiccione: I've seen two scam reports for 1bit exchange now btw, perhaps we should consider removing them?
11:16:16 <ErCiccione> dEBRUYNE: sure. Could you point me to these reports?
11:16:34 <dEBRUYNE> One is on modmail, but I can copy the convo I guess
11:16:36 <dEBRUYNE> Will get it to you later

11:17:34 <dEBRUYNE> '"Hello The address you specified does not belong to our service"'
11:17:43 <dEBRUYNE> They used this for the other person as well
11:17:53 <dEBRUYNE> I suppose it could be malware on the user's end, but still
11:20:51 <ErCiccione> no worries those two threads are enough. Maybe we should consider limiting the listing of exchanges on getmonero.
11:24:03 <ErCiccione> btw my approach is that since we have a low bar when adding merchants, we also have a low bar for removing them. Personally, when i receive a complaint about a service listed on getmonero being a scam, i see if the claim is credible enough. If it is, i remove the merchant. That's it. Better safe than sorry, we can also add them again in case.
11:26:50 <dEBRUYNE> Think we should start increasing the bar for services and exchanges to get listed
11:27:06 <dEBRUYNE> People typically blame us because the service is listed on the website, even if there is a disclaimer
11:28:16 <ErCiccione> Yeah but what can we do about it? If we do a deeper vetting and then the service end up being a scam anyway, we are in trouble. To asses the safety of an exchange/service we should do a thorough investigation and i don't think we have the resources for that
11:28:54 <ErCiccione> We could have higher bar for exchanges tho
11:29:06 <ErCiccione> since most of the complaints are about them
11:29:51 <ErCiccione> but even there everything we can do is a background check, not much more.
11:34:58 <dEBRUYNE> We can still keep the disclaimer there, just increase the initial vetting process a bit more
11:37:48 <ErCiccione> Suggestions on how to increase it? We can make deeper background checks, but new exchanges will pass it regardless.
11:47:43 <dEBRUYNE> Will put some thought into it
