So, i've done some tests after a user reported weird results from search engines when searching for Monero downlodas. Specifically, they said they were getting the link for localized versions of getmonero.

After some tests i haven't noticed this behaviour, actually, i'm noticing a huge improvements in the quality of the results.

Searching "Monero downloads" from the italian google gives the localized getmonero in the third place, while getmonero is the first result.

searching with various degrees of filtering for different languages gives mized result, but in general the positioning of getmonero is very good and languages are detected mostly correctly.

for me the first result is getmonero.org, second is monero.org. interestingly the monero.org link has a "Software Genre: Cryptocurrency" tag which getmonero.org doesn't

This is actually great, IMO and shows how the recent SEO improvements are giving results. Especially if we consider that we started serving a non-broken sitemap only a couple of months ago.

This has a long history, i don't recall exactly what actions have been taken, but IIRC there isn't much we can do

So yeah, SEO placement is improving, which is nice to see since i put a good amount of effort in improving thatr

beside google. DDG results are more of low quality, with results mixed in different languages and using the old canonical address

it depends what you're searching for. with google i usually get pages of those sites that scrape content from stackoverflow and other forums

Dunno. DDG has been my standard search engine for years, but when i have to do more complex researches i have to use google. Reuslts are always of higher quality :/
