according to the article I linked, yes Intel has used TSMC for yesrs, but only for ancillary parts, never for x86 cores

building an ETH ASIC at this point in time sounds like a huge waste

Nah, Eth1 (the PoW/compute chain) will continue for a long time

i strongly doubt eth will ever fully abolish PoW

Eth2.0 is just a value transfer shard that will run alongside of it.

It can't do any compute/smart contracts/etc

they've already bent to miner demands multiple times
