<xnumbers> Hello. The wallet "monero-gui-linux-x64-v0.15.0.4.tar.bz2" doesn't start in Linux Mint. What might be the problem?

xiphon
xnumbers: any errors?
-
moneromooo
You unarchived it, right ?
-
xiphon
luigi1111: looks like monero submodule is set to some "Jul 19, 2017" head (ab594cf commit)
-
xiphon
could you please set it to the current monero master? (77a008f)
-
xiphon

-
xmrmatterbridge
<xnumbers> "errors?" no

<xnumbers> it looks like the pod module is configured for some head "Jul 19, 2017" (ab594cf commit)
-
xmrmatterbridge
<xnumbers> "could you install it on the current Montero master? (77a008f)" not quite understood
-
moneromooo
Is that an auto paraphrase bot ?
-
xmrmatterbridge
<xnumbers> no. so as not to lose the meaning of the answer
-
xiphon
xnumbers: submodule thing wasn't directed at you
-
moneromooo
OK, then what binary are you running exactly, and what happens ?
-
xmrmatterbridge
<xnumbers> monero-wallet-gui offers to make it an executable file and run it. nothing happens after that
-
moneromooo
Nothing happens as in, no return to shell, no window popping up, no message, apparent hang ?
-
xiphon
did your try to double-click on monero-wallet-gui.AppImage?
-
moneromooo
AppImage sound like a mac thing ?
-
xiphon
Linux supports it too
-
xmrmatterbridge
<xnumbers> double-click and pop-up window with the words "monero-wallet-gui" File is not associated with any program. If you trust its source, you can make it executable and run it. Or use the 'Open with'dialog
-
xiphon
Did you try making it executable?
-
moneromooo
Are you on a 32 bit arch ?
-
xiphon
moneromooo: could be missing +x thing
-
xmrmatterbridge
<xnumbers> executable - yes 64 bit
-
xiphon
alright, could you open the sheel and run ./monero-wallet-gui and report back what happens
-
moneromooo
There should be a script in the same place called somehting with low-graphics or similar. You could try running that one.
-
xiphon
s/sheel/shell
-
selsta
linux mint does not allow starting executables from the file explorer
-
selsta

-
selsta
not a monero issue
-
selsta
afaik this can be solved by adding monero-wallet-gui to the start menu
