I have an issue with a shapeshift deposit into an added receive address in my monero GUI wallet. The app crashed between placing the order and having the funds verified, and the receive address disappeared with the crash. I can use the secret view key and transaction ID to see that the deposit was made, but after 24 hours, it's never shown up in my account balance, which is still zero. Can anybody shed light on this?

You asked shapeshift to send monero to your own wallet. Is that correct ?

It appears so. And the monero wallet crashed.

Do you have some stack trace for that crash, or any error message it displayed ?

Was the address a subaddress or the main wallet address ?

current released version has known issues with crashes but they are already fixed

No stack trace, unless there is a way to access one I'm not aware of: I'm on OS X, and while I'm working on other things, I'll look at my running apps and notice the GUI is no longer running, or I'll leave my computer and come back, and when I do, the GUI is no longer running. This has happened about a dozen times now.

I presume it was a subaddress, though the GUI doesn't label it that way clearly: it was an address created when you click 'create new address' in the receive tab.

the wallet restore height was 2019000 at the time of creation (I wrote it down), and on the settings page, it is currently 2019185

if there is a separate entity called 'wallet creation height', I'll need to be told where to find it

Can you click on Change wallet restore height, enter 2019000 and then click ok twice?

moneromoo, you are correct that I asked ShapeShift to send to my own wallet

"create new address" will get you a subaddress. If you did this fewer than 50 times, it should be ok. If you did it more and did not receive on any other, it might be why. Is this the case ?

The the most likely reason is the restore height as selsta mentions.

selsta, there appears to be no option for 'change wallet restore height' on the settings page in the MacOS version. Close Wallet, Create Wallet, Show Seed, Rescan, Chance Password, and the tabs at the top (Wallet, Interface, Node, Log, Info)

moneromooo: Sometimes after a crash the GUI skips scanning when opening it again, but difficult to reproduce. Rescanning solves this.
