gingeropolous
so how does one actually setup a bootstrap node situation with the GUI?
-
gingeropolous
i have local node selected, and there's a bootstrap address and bootstrap port
-
gingeropolous
will it just assume i want bootstrap mode if I fill those fields in?
-
gingeropolous
well lets find out
-
gingeropolous
and how do I set pruning?
-
gingeropolous
ok, that is how bootstrapping works.
-
gingeropolous
so there are no buttons for pruning..... :( moar buttons
-
gingeropolous
i just need to learn how to code. what language is this? qt? anyone have good ginger-level getting starteds?
-
moneromooo
QML and javascript. Plus some C++.
-
gingeropolous
the c++ scares me. maybe none of its object oriented
-
gingeropolous
well i guess the first thing is to see if I can easily build a dev environment on my existing ubuntu desktop eh
-
gingeropolous
yah start thinking you'll just make some mods to index.html and end up needing to learn qt
-
moneromooo
Yaks all the way down.
-
moneromooo
Hairy, hirsute yaks.
-
gingeropolous
my worlds built on turtles damnit
-
moneromooo
Lucky you. They don't need much shaving.
-
gingeropolous
are there any major GUI redesigns in the works?
-
kinghat
-
kinghat
not gui related but turtles ☝️
-
dEBRUYNE
gingeropolous: I think we'll be sticking to the current design for a while
-
dEBRUYNE
A full redesign not only costs a lot of time and dev power, it is quite a risky endeavor as well
-
dEBRUYNE
No guarantee that it is better than the current design (which I personally like fwiw)
-
gingeropolous
yeah i like it too. i just didn't want to dive into this and someone go "wellllllll"
-
gingeropolous
ok, who wants to bet this qt installer doesn't remove the other qt i had installed
-
gingeropolous
is this qt creator useful?
-
xiphon
gingeropolous: "and how do I set pruning?" <- not supported in the GUI yet
-
xiphon
gingeropolous: "is this qt creator useful?" <- probably, i've seen some guys using it
-
gingeropolous
well i used the qt installer yet somehow got this qmake: could not exec '/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/qt5/bin/qmake': No such file or directory
-
moneromooo
Might be called qmake-qt5.
-
gingeropolous
none of the bins in that folder have any variation of q and make
-
gingeropolous
ill try the apt cmd on the monero gui readme.
-
gingeropolous
well that made this happen: Project ERROR: Can't build with Qt 5.5.1. Use at least Qt 5.9.7
-
gingeropolous
welp... maybe i'll just make a new VM
-
gingeropolous
i need a nap
