Everything built successfully it seems. Is it possible to sign the hashes now, or do I need to rebuild everything from scratch after doing some other steps before? I have no exp here. I will be back in an hour.
-
mj-xmr
OK after some reading, I see that the build produced the uncommitted .assert files, ready to be signed. I think I'm on the right track.
-
mj-xmr
There were some formatting errors for OSX and FreeBSD. I wanted to correct them, but then I facepalmed, as I shouldn't have modified the uncommitted .assert files... So I'm rebuilding...
-
mj-xmr
On the positive note, I will PR the documentation update soon.

Howard Chu is a high IQ scholar, he has more Google images with a violin than Sting with a guitar, he singlehandely saved NASA from doom. Why can't the saviour of NASA save Monero?

Lyza

CCosta[m]
hi folks! 👋 wishing to start contributing, going with submitting my own builds to gitian.sigs but gh is locked (yep, spam sucks) - is there a "process" to go through or should I just submit my GH user here?
-
CCosta[m]
-
selsta
gitian.sigs should not be locked
-
selsta
we can add contributors to the main repo if they plan are contributing
-
CCosta[m]
<selsta "gitian.sigs should not be locked"> oh, great! I was under the impression that the whole org was locked. will submit then. thx!
-
CCosta[m]
hmm having some trouble with `gitian-build.py` - `
downloads.sourceforge.net/project/o…lsigncode/osslsigncode-1.7.1.tar.gz` seems to now just always redirect to sourceforge's home page
-
mj-xmr
CCosta[m], you need to apply this:
monero-project/monero #7655
-
CCosta[m]
mj-xmr: awesome! thanks!
-
mj-xmr
NP. Also in case you have trouble building like me, where it hung at the Android build, here I'm trying to update the instructions:
-
mj-xmr
-
mj-xmr
binaryFate, do you need to add users to gitian.sigs?
paste.debian.net/1193082
-
mj-xmr
I get 403
-
binaryFate
It would be your first PR to this repo right? I think because the repo is protected
-
mj-xmr
binaryFate, correct.
-
binaryFate
just a sec

anon_udxf6fdz[m]
Anyone know of a monero block explorer that has a public api? This list is outdated
github.com/moneroexamples/onion-monero-blockchain-explorer
-
anon_udxf6fdz[m]
Xmr.to works never mind
-
anon_udxf6fdz[m]
-
selsta
I don't think we blocked the gitian.sigs repo
-
binaryFate
isn't it the same across the organisation?
-
mj-xmr
A small hint: I had to change my PGP key and uploaded it recently to GitHub.
-
mj-xmr
Maybe this is the reason. I'll try to push something to core.
-
binaryFate
ah wait I think you're trying to push to upstream
-
binaryFate
"remote: Permission to monero-project/gitian.sigs.git denied to mj-xmr"
-
mj-xmr
The instructions said:
-
mj-xmr
git push --set-upstream $GH_USER $VERSION
-
mj-xmr
I did git push --set-upstream origin $VERSION
-
binaryFate
what is origin pointing to?
-
mj-xmr
-
mj-xmr
binaryFate, ^
-
binaryFate
I'm not sure about these instructions tbh
-
binaryFate
you should fork the repo and set origin to
github.com/mj-xmr/gitian.sigs
-
mj-xmr
Neither am I. I'm trying to update them though.
-
mj-xmr
Yeah, this sounds reasonable.
-
selsta
binaryFate: sech1 and sethsimmons contributed fine yesterday without any repo changes
-
selsta
and they both did not have any prev contributions
-
selsta
mj-xmr: don't think these instructions are accurate
-
mj-xmr
They might have done the proper form, like binaryFate is saying.
-
mj-xmr
*fork
-
binaryFate
git remote rename origin upstream && git remote add origin
github.com/mj-xmr/gitian.sigs
-
binaryFate
then try again
-
mj-xmr
-
binaryFate
awesome let me check
-
binaryFate
can you add your public key to gitian-pubkeys too?
-
mj-xmr
ah sure.
-
mj-xmr
binaryFate, added and squashed.
-
mj-xmr
CCosta[m], updated signing instructions:
monero-project/monero #7658
-
mj-xmr
While we're here, maybe I could change the .travis.yml to use Github actions?
-
binaryFate
the verify script is failing on your PR, I'm not sure why
-
binaryFate
a git thing, not the hashes
-
binaryFate
this works (and previous PR too): git fetch upstream pull/139/head:139_head
-
binaryFate
but this does not: git fetch upstream pull/140/head:140_head
-
binaryFate
sorry, was a local issue
-
binaryFate
All good mj-xmr, and the hashes check up thanks a lot
-
mj-xmr
binaryFate, I made a rebase for the PGP key. Maybe that's why it failed. Anyway thanks to everybody for help and to hyc for reviewing the documentation.
-
mj-xmr

mj-xmr
binaryFate, Verify done as Github Action:

Do you think that you are too intelligent to be in a cult? Then I would encourage you to look into how any other cult works. They aren't populated by stupid people. Aum Shinrikyo was almost exclusively university professors and graduates. For Pete's sake - they had the know-how and means to make WMDs.
-
yqnpxwcya
As to Monero, I would encourage you to look at Jonestown mass-suicide. You know why Jones killed them all? Because he was afraid he is loosing control over them. People like that will burn everything around them rather than give up control. Being smart doesn't make you immune to being in a cult. This is the most valuable lesson Monero taught me.
