People here have suggestions for the new header on getmonero?
monero-project/monero-site #1503
-
rottenwheel
I +1 dEBRUYNE's comment myself. Don't see the message as being too long either.
-
rottenwheel
If anything, nuking 'and secure', but the message looks great to me.
-
ErCiccione
So that's a suggestion for option 3?
-
rottenwheel
'@dEBRUYNE-1 I guess that's a suggestion for option 3. It's a bit too long in my opinion. Ideally we would have something short and of immediate impact.

-
rottenwheel
yes, and +1 dEBRUYNE's proposed line.
-
ErCiccione
I'm not a big fan. If we go for one single header, i would opt for a short and strong phrase. Probably better to keep the 2 headers
-
rottenwheel
Keep the Monero, nuke A private digital currency and put in 'Monero means money'. Call it a day.

Same description below and introductory video to the left.

ezpz.
-
ErCiccione
The point is to remove 'Monero', because it's redundant and the space could be used better
-
rottenwheel
Seconding sgp_ then. Join the community as bolden, header 1, Monero means money as header 2 and then description below. Introductory video to the left.

* Seconding sgp_ then. Join the community as boldened, header 1. Monero means money as smaller, header 2 and then description below. Introductory video to left.

I feel like the issue will do nothing but cause bikeshedding
-
sgp_
Make it clear and make sure there are the calls to action in the top card
-
sgp_
My recommendation was "how digital cash was supposed to work", but maybe "Monero means money" works just fine to convey something similar too
-
sgp_
I like me second tagline anyway: "Monero is the recognized global standard for private digital payments". We should assert some dominance there imo
-
johnfoss68[m]
IMO I like privacy being mentioned as it is huge selling point when people are learning about Monero. I like debruynes tag line.

ErCiccione
sgp_ people seems to like dEBRUYNE's suggestion more, so i used that one.
-
sgp_
Do people not like "Monero is the recognized global standard for private digital payments" ?
-
sgp_
I like it because we assert ourselfs as _the_ standard
-
sgp_
* I like it because we assert ourselves as _the_ standard
-
ErCiccione
i don't know but the people who commented like the other one. Maybe post it on the issue, so it gets more visibility
-
sgp_
Okay, added
-
sgp_
Even so, something should change with the current version asap since the current version is bad imo
-
sgp_
Not having a "join community" call to action sucks
-
ErCiccione
i said my opinion about that in the other issue. The calls to action are right below that header. I don't think people care of joining the community when first opening the website, they first want to know what we are talking about
-
gingeropolous
perhaps instead of "monero means money" make it "monero is money"
-
sgp_
<ErCiccione "i said my opinion about that in "> In my experience, every marketing person I've talked with suggests specifically NOT to do this. A main workflow for crypto is 1) go to website, 2) join Discord/Reddit/Telegram/etc
-
sgp_
Doesn't quite work because the site doesn't have the Discord either though, hmm
-
sgp_
The current site is tailored for a much smaller audience than the current Monero community is, let alone what it should grow into
-
sgp_
At the moment, joining a community is buried under another header
-
gingeropolous
which marketing ppl?
-
ErCiccione
Ok. So, removing the third block of text will free a lot of space. I honestly don't like it, but i also don't care that much. So i can add the two buttons "join the community" and "get monero" under the "learn more about monero" button.
-
ErCiccione
We already have both those buttons tho, so it would be redundant, but if we don't mind, fine for me
-
sgp_
Where do we have those buttons already?
-
ErCiccione
Under "get started" below the header there is a "get some coins" box and under "join the community" there is the link to the contributing file in the first box
-
sgp_
Maybe drop the "buy XMR" button and just go with the other 2
