anyone around? need help

Mumuks[m]
thespiritmolekule: it is sleep time in the USA, and most in this chat are filthy imperialists. Ask your question, if no one available can answer now, others will see it when they wake up
-
Guest69319
anyone know how use dark mode on IRC? Thanks
-
-
thespiritmolekul
just wondering if i should be worried

Watching Monero Means Money, Its pretty awesome, good job on it. Most of it I already know but its still pretty awesome will share around!
-
thespiritmolekul
if anyone knows how i can get a job in Monero or Crypto in general, that'd be cool. Studying for my A+ Certification at the moment and plan on getting Security+ after
-
thespiritmolekul
by share around i mean >
communityworkgroup.org/monero-means-money< not the actual link lol
-
xmrscott[m]
Guest69319: Follow the instructions to verify the hashes (
web.getmonero.org/downloads) If that checks out, you're fine
-
xmrscott[m]
Er, wrong highlight, that was for thespiritmolekule
-
xmrscott[m]
But.... Guest69319 if you're using HexChat, you can use themes to get dark mode:
hexchat.readthedocs.io/en/2.9.5/appearance.html
-
xmrscott[m]
Arguably best way to make reoccurring money a w/ respect to Monero is to find an unmet need and fill it for free as sort of a way to prove yourself to community, then ask for money for continued work
-
xmrscott[m]
Alternatively, you can create something for the ecosystem that has fees. For example, Cake Wallet makes money basically off of affiliate links for exchanges
-
xmrscott[m]
As for CC, I don't have a job in the field, but in the PHX metro there's a monthly meetup of cycling faces in the decentralized space. I presume other geo's have similar meetups, although ATM even virtual ones may be hard to come by. But basically, try networking in your area.
-
xmrscott[m]
I can't speak very well to the CC jobs market, but if you interest lies more in blockchain and related tech than currency itself, you'd want to look at companies experimenting with Hyperledger
-
xmrscott[m]
Hyperledger is likely to stay around given support by IBM, Intel, etc. scamcoin companies pumping what amounts to dentist gift cards, not so much
-
thespiritmolekul
ok i downloaded from the r/monero pinned post, and that checks out. And thank you for all the info, i will keep that in mind once i am A+ certified
-
xmrscott[m]
thespiritmolekule And for what it's worth, if you come across a Hyperledger/blockchain related job requistion of interest at Intel, I can help recommend you to help get you past whatever resume filters, etc
-
thespiritmolekul
<xmrscott[m] "thespiritmolekule And for what i"> That would be EXTREMELY appreciated ❤
-
midipoet
Hyperledger is definitely not going anywhere
-
Inge-
heh
-
Inge-
weren't they doing some pilot installs with Maersk or something?
-
midipoet
they are gearing up to be the backbone (in some incarnation or other) of some pretty far-reaching projects such as digital identity, covid credentials/immunity passports, and pretty much all the European Blockchain Services Infrastructure.
-
Inge-
So by "not going anywhere" do you really mean "they mmight actually be going somewhere" ?
-
Inge-
I'm still dumbfounded by what a permissioned ledger is even good for.. can't all their usecases be handled with just PKI ?
-
midipoet
i see the most advantageous benefit from a permissioned ledger is that you can "safely" make security/decentralisation tradeoffs in order to gain efficiency/throughput. it also makes governance a little easier as all participants are not necessarily equal.
-
Inge-
Do we have believable actual use-cases?
-
Inge-
as in, reasonable, sensible scenarios where this is the best / a good fit?
-
asymptotically

Inge: well i couldn't see a CBDC being run on a permissionless network. i mean it could, but i am pretty sure that a government would want more control. but i guess the need/use case for a CBDC is sort of antithetical to the overarching ideology of Monero/BTC, so maybe that is not valid either
-
midipoet
Inge-: ^
-
Inge-
I've heard lots of suggested cases, but not a single one has really held up to scrutiny. Agree with you re, CBDC.
-
Inge-
I guess Electroneum and EOS are variants of a kind of permissioned blockchain
-
Rob_Rawks
I would expect current blockchains ran like company would bid to get the contract to run the CBDC
-
midipoet
perhaps. i would think that blockchain dev companies would tender for the development of a CBDC architecture, and then hand control over to the Central Bank.
-
midipoet
that is what is happening with the EBSI
-

-
needbrrrrrrr90
I've always imagined CBDC would use reserves of permissionless money and trade notes on top of those reserves
-
needbrrrrrrr90
Similar to the SDR

Permissionless money and competing CBDCs*
-
Rob_Rawks
I wonder if CBDCs will be 100% transparent for the government to view lol
-
needbrrrrrrr90
If that scenario happens, which is already probably far fetched, my guess is no. The CB would control floating exchange rates using their held reserves, and probably keep knowledge of exact holdings private knowledge. Because markets.
