Oh? Do you have a favorite VR dealio, or just not a fan of VR in general?
-
xmrscott[m]
Hub while a bit buggy is nice if only because it doesn't require a headset and you can just plug in a URL, no need to install anything either
-
xmrscott[m]
(IMO)
-
xmrscott[m]
Also, it's FOSS
-

I like that it's easy to jump in, but I don't get a lot of pleasure out of using Hub without a VR headset I guess? I still prefer video conference-style chats
-

maybe it's just the room was too big? I'm not really sure how to explain why it feels off
-
xmrscott[m]
Fair enough

I need to check on my mic. I didn't realize it was that bad :(

It would be great if Articmine had someone work on audio setup with him :D

I was amazed by the amount of people who ask very basic questions on reddit. Like "where can i buy Monero" "What wallet should i use" and other basic stuff. I think if so many people cannot find an immediate answer to such basic questions, we have a problem. I think the website is part of the problem and i'm going to make some changes to make easier for people to find they info they need.
-
ErCiccione[m]
I'm making some changes to the home page to achieve that goal. For instance, i'm removing the "Why is monero different" completely and will substitute it with more practical info like "Get a wallet" "Get some XMR" "Transact" and stuff like that.
-
ErCiccione[m]
my goal is to have the homepage pointing to places on the website where people can get the info they need to actually use Monero and contribute to the development.
-
ErCiccione[m]
If you have suggestions about what to put on the home and what to remove, keeping in mind the goal i'm trying to achieve, please let me know
-
selsta
keep in mind that many people don’t even bother to read the website
-
ErCiccione[m]
Maybe, but if they do right now they don't easily find the info they need.
-
selsta
I just think there will always be basic questions, but obviously improving things is always good.
-
ErCiccione[m]
Sure, but i think the website should be one of the main resources to look at when looking for info. But i noticed that most of the members of the community rarely point to it when they need to answer a question. Instead i see a lot of links to other reddit post or stackexchange questions. That IMO is a symptom of the fact that they don't see the website as a primary source of info and i think a big part of
-
ErCiccione[m]
the problem is that those info are actually not easy to find.
-
ErCiccione[m]
I'm already trying to improve that (see the changes to the FAQ, which now allows to link directly to a question/answer), but i think more deeper changes are needed

<ErCiccione[m]> I'm making some changes to the home page to achieve that goal. For instance, i'm removing the "Why is monero different" completely and will substitute it with more practical info like "Get a wallet" "Get some XMR" "Transact" and stuff like that. <= Why not simply add instead of replace?
-
dEBRUYNE
And I do agree with selsta
-
dEBRUYNE
People often simply post because it is the easiest avenue and the quickest way to get an answer
-
dEBRUYNE
Put differently, people are lazy :p
-
ErCiccione[m]
Because i think that section is useless and just a duplicate of the "what is monero?" page. We could use the homepage to display strategic info and the basics any newcomer needs.
-
ErCiccione[m]
People often simply post because it is the easiest avenue and the quickest way to get an answer <- That's exactly my point
-
ErCiccione[m]
Right now the website is not lazy-friendly
-
ErCiccione[m]
my entire point is to make the info more easily accessible
-
asymptotically
don't lazy people like videos? i love all of the animated ones on the website
-
ErCiccione[m]
The videos are still there, but need to be updated.
-
dEBRUYNE
I am kind of skeptical improvements on the website will reduce the number of posts on reddit
-
dEBRUYNE
But definitely worthwhile to try
-
camthegeek
From my point of view: having the Why monero is different is almost useless. Why are we comparing Monero to other things within the first 5-10 seconds of viewing? Your main focus is what is monero and its briefed in the first section. Afterwards, why not answer other questions like: what can I use monero for? where to use it? how do I get it? how do I use it?
-
ErCiccione[m]
dEBRUYNE: Uh? That was never my point. I think that the fact that people cannot find easily the answers they need it's a problem, and the website is part of the problem because it doesn't show the basic info in a lazy-friendly way. The biggest symptom of the problem is the fact that when people answer to questions on reddit, they never point to the website, because it's not seen as a point of reference. That
-
ErCiccione[m]
needs to change.
-
ErCiccione[m]
camthegeek: Exactly that

Why did they get a random quote from Dasset, an exchange I've never heard of
-
sgp_
"Ehrenhofer mentioned that a number of risk-based Anti Money Laundering approaches for setting up compliant crypto exchanges have been published and are being used, but it’s only a small fraction of the crypto exchange market." I also have no idea what this means
-
camthegeek
Did you say it, or mention it?
-
camthegeek
Actually, it's just a cluster of words you said between 7:45 minute marker to 9:10 minute marker in that compliance talk.
-

I don't recall exactly what I said but I feel like the sentence they put together doesn't mean anything
