geonic: sorry I missed your Tweet links! I didn't realize that was the third most popular Monero-related tweet ever. Nice :)
-
hyc
is it odd that someone not in the monero community gets more traction from a monero-related tweet?
-
hyc
or is it to be expected, since their followers are lessfamiliar with the topic
-
sgp_
hyc: honestly I don't know who they are. Maybe that's my own ignorance
-
niocbrrrrrr
guess it depends on how many followers you have
-
geonic
that’s the first tweet I’ve seen from that account. maybe he’s buying likes. the replies seem genuine enough though..
-
geonic
it’s his most popular tweet by a factor of ~20
-
geonic
-
niocbrrrrrr
I say guess cause I am not a twitterer
-
sgp_
that's a lot of interest for 4k followers

fun twist to the meme competition: votes translate into changes on a spinner, and the spinner decides who wins, not the #1 top vote recipient. Just to make things a little more interesting

*chances on a spinner

[REDDIT] Bitcoin already has privacy - Its Monero. As time goes on, all crypto will merge and Monero will benefit from people choosing its privacy for their favorite coins. I can easily see this becoming the case. (self.Monero) | 40 points (81.0%) | 30 comments | Posted by discoish | Created at 2020-04-16 - 22:09:31

I am wrong indeed from time to time. sgp_

I know very little about oracles
-
jwinterm
if the question involves chainlink, then there is no correct answer
-
jwinterm
ergo rehrar is wrong
-
rehrar
jwinterm I claim no good oracle solution exists.
-
rehrar
This guy claims that chain link is a good oracle solution. I haven't done any looking into it.
-
rehrar
Just from his explanation, and the name chainlink, it uses game theory to incentivize regular people acting as oracles for number related things.
-
rehrar
And the closer you are to the average the more likely (or more) token you receive, incentiviInf correctness and minimizing fraud.
-
rehrar
I can potentially see how this might work between blockchains, although how oracles are chosen I still don't know, and how it would work for something like deploying a smart contracts that sends you money when I buy your house would work.
-
jwinterm
rehrar, from what i understand it is just at the discretion of chainlink founders with some kyc
-
jwinterm
re: how oracles are chosen
-
rehrar
......are you serious?
-
rehrar
Holy cuss! The "put 40% into eth" has a lot of upvotes. And my responses criticizing it are not being take very well. :D
-
rehrar
I totally forgot that Reddit is full of lurker noobs that more than likely have eth bags.

I think I just read it there

but can't find comment

rehrar
....is that post telling the truth? If so....good gracious. KYC'd nodes acting as oracles.
-
jwinterm
would you want some rando acting as your oracle?
-
rehrar
I'd rather it be trustless.
-
rehrar
My standards are definitely impossible for implementation.
-
rehrar
*probably
-
rehrar
But maybe a Freudian slip.
-
jwinterm
I guess there could be some way to have thousands of anons vote on oracle results with some mechanism to pay honest actors
-
jwinterm
mebbe

someday

Google has experimented with ZKP that you can send them an encrypted search request and they send you back the encrypted result (which you can decrypt) and they have no idea what you sent and what they sent you.
-
rehrar
This would probably be a way to solve this. Can't game what you can't see, and what you can't actively try to game cuz you also don't know what you sent back.

I have questions ...

Not getting a redirect to video after "This invoice is paid in full" using crypto for Monero Means Money. Globee support chat not responding either. Any ideas/

Woot woot! Thank ye kindly

rehrar: I would say you aren't wrong, but I have bias as well. If Oracle is solved it makes little sense for Chainlink et al to recently announce partnerships:
cointelegraph.com/news/chainlink-to…ceo-founded-firm-for-oracle-problem
-
xmrscott[m]
Also, if that's the raison d'etre for ETH, then by golly the majority of tx should be utilizing Oracle. TMK they aren't tho, which suggests in reality ETH is only really useful for buying scamcoin tokens still
